View Full Version : Big Effort; Small Return--So Far
While the crowd of football recruits visiting UK last weekend was impressive, unless we've gotten a verbal today, that huge weekend brought in only one commitment, the 2-star recruit Meisner---so far. We'll just have to wait to see if it swayed others in our direction. But then sometimes when coaches get verbals they ask the player to sit on it for a while (for a variety of reasons I reckon), so there could be more than meets the eye from the big visitation.

Maybe there's a bunch of those oxymorons: silent verbals.

I hate to mention the B word on a thread where gerntz is posting :D, but I will still share what I read on the basketball forum. Several posters who were in Rupp that day expressed concern that all those football recruits heard thequite noticeablebooing each time Sheray Thomas was inserted into the lineup. One fan even strongly posted that he (or she), as a recruit, would not choose UKafter witnessing the fan behavior. Several were concerned about recruits' impressions of UK fans (although more were rightly concerned about Sheray Thomas himself).
Hopefully no actual UK football recruit wasso influenced. Again, I'm only sharing the impressions of those in attendance Saturday.
I do hope there were some silent verbals. Recruiting is so important to the future of this program. GO CATS!
