LEXINGTON - Seven Kentucky football players received various honors Thursday from the website CollegeFootballNews.com.

Receiver Keenan Burton and tight end Jacob Tamme were named to the CFN All-Southeastern Conference Team (only a first team was selected).

Burton caught 72 passes for 1,006 yards and 12 touchdowns this year and also led the SEC in all-purpose yardage. Tamme led the league's tight ends in pass receptions with 28 for 327 yards and one touchdown.

Burton, quarterback Andre Woodson and linebacker Wesley Woodyard were on CFN's list of the top 30 players in the SEC, regardless of position, with Woodson coming in at No. 10, Burton 14th and Woodyard 25th. Woodson led the league in passing yardage, total offense, and touchdown passes. Woodyard was second in the league in tackles with 110 stops.

Kentucky also got mentioned in one of the team honors. Arkansas was selected as the "biggest surprise" with Kentucky a "close second."

This is being discussed on another thread, but I'll now take a different tack and say that it's good being seen as an up-and-comer.

I'll tell you one thing- I certainly didn't think we'd see the Cats with an opportunity toclinch 2nd place in the SEC East going into the Tennessee game. That was a surprise. 7-5 didn't surprise me, but our fine finish in the SEC East did. It was definitely nice to dislodge one of the "Big Three" for once.

Go Cats! Beat Clemson!
