Being a newbie here, I want to introduce myself, (and maybe the other WCF'ers can do so as well) to those that were already here.
My name is Richard, I have been posting on UK boards since 2001(mostly WCF), and talked to many great people(many of which are right here now). I am opinionated, you will see me often bash the ref's after a UK loss, and I don't feel the least bit shame in that. I hate dUKe, and coach K, UofL and Pitino, I will bash local media for their sudden love affair with UofL. I love to give Billy Packer and Dookie V hell, and I think Ashley Judd is the worlds most beautiful woman.;)
I look forward to making some new friends right here at da Nation. Thanks one and all for the warm welcome.

I'm 21 years old and am a Kinesiology/Health Promotions major at UK. I'm originally from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and I want to teach elementary school P.E. and be a high school football coach.
I love all sports (except rhythmic gymnastics) and will talk to anyone about any of them 24/7.
I (like many people here) am probably too obsessed with UK basketball -- but to me there is no such thing! I chose UK partly because you can get basketball tickets for $5!
I used to put up with the perennial losing of the UK football team but I finally lost the faith last season. Since then I've fallen in love with Notre Dame football and have realized how bad UK football really is.
I'm fiercly loyal to my family, friends, and fraternity brothers -- it's something I take great pride in.
These are my teams:
UK (all sports except football)
Notre Dame (football)
Cincinnati Reds
Cleveland Browns
GO CATS!!!

I too am from the mountains of eastern Kentucky and I have been on UK Wildcat sites since May of 1999. I love Kentucky basketball and have been a huge fanof UK hoopssince the time of Rupp's Runts in 1965-66. I also like football and other sports and I love to discuss current events and politics. I am also very happy to be on the same site as so many of my friends.:D
Littlemeyer
06-05-2005, 10:16 PM
My real name is not, nor has ever been, Littlemeyer. In fact, I have never even had the nickname Littlemeyer. I did, however, have a class once at Murray State with a Professor who took role everyday, by only saying the students' last names. One of the students, lo and behold, was Littlemeyer. And the professor said it kinda funny, so I decided then that one day I will have that name on a UK message board. Well, I finally made it!
I love all things Kentucky, graduated from UK with a degree in Mining Engineering in 2002, lived in Alabama for a few years and was able to finally move back home with my wife, an optometrist. I also happen to be a huge Chicago Cubs fan ( I posted, albeit very infrequently,as Ky Cubfan on the 'other' board) I look forward to many discussions in the future with both new and old friends here...

Hi to everyone that might not know me yet.
My real name is my screenname, partially because I didn't want to try to come up with something creative, and partially b/c using my real name helps to keep me from posting something stupid that I might later regret.
I'm 23, originally from Glasgow (Barren County, class of 2000), then I lived in Georgetown for four years while I was in college there, majoring in history and political science. (But if we add a political forum, you probably won't see me there: four years of studying government and politics has made me more apathetic than ever, although I still vote in every election). Now I live in Louisville and am 1/3 of the way to a law degree from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at *cough*theuniversityoflouisville*cough*
I've been a UK fan since I was 11 years old when I met Cawood Ledford at a Glasgow Minit Mart. I'ma huge fan of the Lakers, Orioles, and Titans. I also collect DVDs (especially Stallone and Schwarzenegger movies) andStar Wars action figures.

CANT STANDCARDS II, CARDBOARD rules. I use it every day and it is
a big boost to the local economy because we have more pine trees down
here than Carter had Little Liver Pills.
Who am I? Well, I am what my username says I am. A Florida
Cracker. I am a sixth generation Floridian on my mother's side
of the family (a Cracker) and a Pike County, Kentucky hillybilly
on my daddy's side. So I guess you can say I come from a "mixed
marriage". Half Florida and half Kentucky that led to a
Wildcat fan being raised in the Swamp with Seminoles,
Gators and a Hurricane or two thrown in. We do not have any
UL fans down here so I can be thankful for that.
My daddy made sure I was raised right and he tought me the
ways of a Wildcat fan. Daddy would turn on WHAS and we would turn
out the lights (better reception when you are 850 miles from
Louisville) and listen to the games. Some of my first
memories as a child were listening to the UK basketball and football games
and dreaming of someday watching the team in the flesh. Daddy had
one rule that was the law of our house. Nobody gets born, gets
married or dies on the day of a UK game. When it is
time for the game all our focus is on that moment. There
will be plenty of time to worry about other things after the last
second ticks off of the clock.
Growing up I thought I was going to the University of Florida, but a
trip to the 1958 NCAA Final Four in Louisville change that.
We drove up from Clearwater for the game and I was so overwhelmed
watching Coach Rupp's team I told dad I wanted to attended
UK. We drove over to Lexington the next day and I walked
around campus and made up my mind for sure. I attended UK from 1961 to
1965 and it was four great years. My UK degree has
allowed me to fulfill my dreams both financially and building
relationships with some of the best people on
earth.
I have enjoyed meeting many of you and look forward to making even
more UK friends. I travel extensively in my job and I tell you
one thing. If you are wearing a UK cap or shirt you will soon
find someone who is either a Wildcat fan or knows one.
WE ARE UK and the whole worlds knows what that mean.

I am a HUGE basketball HOMER and will defend them to the death even if

Rick here...
I'm a lifelong Kentuckian, originally from eastern Kentucky (Powell County), but my dad moved us to Oldham County in the summer of 1964 and it's been my home ever since. It also goes without saying I've been a Wildcat fan since birth.
I'm a Navy veteran ('76-'80) and wason one ofthe flotilla of ships that surrounded Iran during the hostage crisis. After getting out of the service, I spent 13 years as a radio announcer, and did about a five year stint as a sportscaster for high school football and basketball. I got a degree in electronic engineering technology in 1989, and until this past year, that was my vocation. After getting downsized for the third time in five years, I decided that it was time for a change and be in control of my OWN destiny, so I got my real estate license about this time last year.
I'm 48 years old, happily married to a red-headed Texas beauty (9 years this past April) whom a lot of you have met at tailgates. I'm a Christian (but I'm also human,as you will find out from reading my posts)and I got my ministerial license through my church two years ago. I live on an acre and a half just outside of LaGrange (How...how..a-how-how-how..oops! Sorry..had a ZZ Top moment there.. :D )
Looking forward to continuing the relationship with my old friends and making new ones.

Well, my name is John and I live in Elizabethtown. (I see some on here from the "mountains" in eastern Kentucky.......my dad is from Harlan.)
I am a 35-year old single dad of the 3 most awesome kids on the planet who are 10, 8, and 6. The most fun I have is watching them play sports. Nothing quite like it.
I am also a proud Christian, church drummer, and love Christian hard rock music, yes, that's right, Christian hard rock. LOL
I was pretty much raised on UK basketball. When they played on a delayed basis, my parents would make me go to bed (because I was only 9-10 year old and wouldn't let me stay up until 11:30) so I couldn't stay up and watch the games.
So, I would sneak out of bed, go and sit in the hallway and watch it on their tv from there because they were in bed and couldn't see me.
I also am a season ticket holder for football.
That's me in a nutshell. :)

My name is Rick also, been a Wildcat fan all 35 years of my life, since growing up in Somerset. I lived in Lex for a few years but actually went to IU for undergrad and WKU for grad school. After moving to DC, Jackson Hole, Lex, Maryland, and West Virginia, I was lucky enough to settle in the Bowling Green area. I have a lovely bride and 2 young sons (2 1/2 and 3 months old).
I like sports, playing bluegrass music on the guitar, and try to stay as active as I can in my local church. At WCF, I read often but posted somewhat infrequently. Look forward to being a part of this site's populartity exploding.

I have a feeling that I have at least one family member lurking around here somewhere, but I have yet to figure out what his screen name is... :)
Anyway, the "Kat" part of my screen name alludes to part of my first name (see, I was destined to be a Cat fan even from birth!). I'm 26, soon to be 27, and I've lived here in the Nashville area for about 2 years now. I was born and raised in South Louisville (one of the better parts of it, lol),and I graduated from high school in 1996 (if you really want to know which school, PM me). I then jetted off to Lexington to get a BA (2000) and an MA (2002) in French at UK. I'll admit, UK wasn't my first choice of schools because I was intimidated by the size. But Transy was just way out of my budget, even with a scholarship.
While at UK, I met the man who is now my husband. He graduated from UK with his Master's in 2001, then headed down here to take an engineering job. Once I was done with my studies, and then moved back to Louisville for a few months (long story), I joined my then-fiancé here in Nashville. We were married 10/11/2003.
Most of my family members are die-hard UK supporters. My dad was a Cat fan, too, but he would also root for the Cards when they played (he was a graduate of UofL, after all, but I can't fault him for that, since he was older when he attended and couldn't just up and leave Louisville for school). I would watch some games when I was younger, but I didn't really catch the fever until The Unforgettables. I try not to snub the Cards too badly, since I know too many alumni--including my own best friend. But I don't pretend to be a fan, either.
That's a little glimpse of me. :)

Didn't get to see many televised games. We lived to close to Knoxville to pick up Kentucky station. I camehere from another board too. I live in Bowling Green now. I didn't attend UK. I am an EKU grad. I lived in Lexington for 8 years after school. I'd like to move back that way if the opportunity presents itself. I will always bleed blue. Go Cats!

Howdy, y'all. Born/raised in Louisville. Started following the Cats in '78 when I was 10. Dad knew they'd be stronger than dirt (who didn't?) and got me hooked.
Eastern High '86, Western Kentucky '90. I've worked in Lexington, Knoxville, Atlanta and now "home" to Raleigh. Married a beutiful Tar Heel and workin her family's business. The only thing that keeps us married sometimes is our profound hatred of Duke.
Found WCF a couple of years ago and really enjoy staying in touch with Cat fans since I'm in exile on Tobacco Road. But there are more of here than you may think, and the North Carolina delegation was sizable on WCF. Hopefully everyone will make their way here soon.
Thanks for having me and I'm already fired up for basketball season. With or without Morris we're going to be darn good. Go Cats!!

KY. I also graduated from the University of Kentucky in

Boulder, CO which I fell in love with its beautiful mountains and
plethora of outdoor activities.
I met my wife there (graduate of IU) and we moved to the NYC area
(Danbury, CT) as part of a career move within our company IBM. My
wife attends graduate school and I am in the IT field and have recently
left IBM to seek a new sense of direction in career aspirations (the
corporate life didn't appeal to me).
I am rabid college football fan and it pains me to watch the last few
years of KY's football program but I remain hopeful and faithful to the
KY football program in beliefs that it will turn around in the right
direction. Saturdays are off-limits for my wife and she
understands that! We may go out to dinner in the evening provided
I can find a decent place and I am eating my food with the giant screen

True to my KY roots, I am a die-hard UK basketball fan that can't stand losing UL, IU or any team really!

This has been very interesting reading, and I think it's a great thread.
My name is Steve, I was born in Louisville, moved to Western Ky. (Hopkins Co) when I was 6, back to Louisville at 20 and been here ever since. Growing up on the farm, we had a radio for Kentucky Basketball & Football, St Louis Baseball, the weather, and country music.
I'm a Christain, andserving Himis #1. Moved here from WCF where I read and posted for about a year. Phyllis and I have 4 kids and 5 grandkids. My favorite name is Papaw. I have been in the insurance business for 40 years. Played basketball in HS, played amatuer baseball and professional softball, Kentucky Bourbons.
I am a retired basketball official, I worked HS ball for over 20 years, the NCAA 8 years,( mostly DIV II) and was accepted into the ABA the same year the Colonels were sold and the league folded. I usually take up for the officials, (sorry delkfor3) because I've been there. I will point out 'Missed" calls, but usually give the reason, i.e. out of position. I worked over 5,000 games and never had the privilege of calling a "perfect" game. One of the greatest things I experienced as a HSofficial was I got to call the 11th regionaltournament at Memorial Coliseum. After listening to all those games growing up, it was truly a blessing especially because they were my final HS games.
My first football game at UK, I cried when the band marched off the field playing the UK fight song. I am a football season ticket holder, but would prefer to watch BB on TV or in the end zone. It's a Ref thing. I'm Chairman of the LG&E Foundation Streetball Showdown held each year to benefit The Cabbage Patch Settlement House. This year it's on June 25 & 26th. Steve! What a terrific name:)... My name is Steve as well. Let me start off by saying I`m a Hilltopper through and through but am now and always have been a fan of Kentucky basketball. My heart was ripped out of me when Sparks left us for Big Blue and I won`t lie, I ain`t quite over it; but it could have been worse; he could have gone to louis...I can`t even finish it. I`m 52, a graduate of Warren East High School 1970, in BG, Ky. I`m a self employed contractor. I grew up near the Carrier`s and went to school with Josh`s mom so I followed the young man`s career at UK. Way to go Josh! I thank the owners of this great site for my membership and promise to always be respectful in my post on this forum. If I get a little carried away on the political forum just give me a hard nudge...
Lighthouse, I`m really looking forward to reading your post. One in Christ!

Just for the record, this thread is for those that were already posting on WCN to get to knowus newbies. I remember Mel did this once on WCF, and I thought it was a great idea to dohere as well.

Hello, my name is Ken and I live in Boyd County. I have been going to UK games since around 1968, I have season tickets thru the K fund for both football and basketball. I have lived around WCF for several years, I really didn't get to know many of you, I park in the blue lot and only made it over to the tailgating once or twice. One time in particular to pick up a t-shirt that I ordered and had a very nice talk with Mel, my one and only conversation with him.
I hope to make this my new UK site for years to come.

UK has given me a vocation and much of my life long recreation. I am a 1975 Graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and a life-long UK sports fan.
Growing up in Flatwoods KY in the 50's and 60's, I had no choice but to be a sports fan. Little league, high school sports and UK sports were all my parents did for recreation. My mother was one of those who would listen to the radio and keep score in big ledger book. I learned to love all sports at a time when it was not cool for a girl to do that. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I got to UK as a student and was able to actually see my beloved CATS in person. I cannot estimate how much of my time at UK was spent in the line at Memorial Coliseum to get into the basketball games.
I have been working in Cincinnati for 23 years and live in Northern KY. I just couldn't bring myself to move across the river.
I don't post often but follow the boards extensively. I found the WCF within a month of Mel initiating it and am happy to have found BBS/WN.

I sometimes have a weird sense of humor whichfrequently doesn't go over the right waywith people who do not know me. So then I wind up having to explain/apologize. :) I went to Lipscomb for one summer school. Took two semesters of Organic Chemistry (along with the labs) in one summer. I had a friend(?) talk me into it. I do NOT recommend that to anybody. But hey, I kicked his butt in grades (and he's a G.P doctor in Nashville) so that almost made it worth it! :D
I don't "stick my toe" in anything. I am "all in" or I don't fool with it. Is that enough cliches for you? I went to WKU my first two years (with summer school at Lipscomb in between those years). Had a blast at WKU, but was always a UK fan.Moved on to UK. Graduated from UK College of Pharmacy in 1978.Wasn't that a great year to be a UKfan?! :> Quit practicing Pharmacy in 1982. My husband and I started our own business and I love being a part of it. Thereare only three seasons in the year for me: UK Basketball, gardening and UK Football. I am extremely loyal tofamily and friends. I would fight/die in the trenches for them.
One of my goals in life is to know as much about football as poodoo. :D

My hubby converted this middle TN born girl to a true Wildcat fan while we were dating. In fact, I never watched any sports growing up except replays on Sat night of the Vandy games ONLY because Creature Feature and Sir Cecil Creep came on afterwards! To show how bad I was about sports, when my first SEC tournament was coming up, my hubby told me that we would be watching 4 games on Thursday but none of them would be my Cats. I thought I would die having to watch all that so I brought my cross stitching to the game. While doing this during the UT/LSU game, I turned to say something to m hubby just as Coach Dale Brown came off the bench to "defend and protect" Shaq from Carlos Groves!! :shock:Needless to say I put the cross stitch up and never got it back agian. After that I was hooked. We had to play LSU the next day without Shaq and the chants were "Throw Dale out" because Coach di not get tossed for taking a swing at another player. We have been to every SEC tournament since then , a few regionals and3 Final Fours, the best one in 1998. I am hooked!
I am a preschool teacher and all of my kids know "Miss Judy does not like orange" They will try to touch me with anything orange they can find! Hubby is in sales and branch manager in Clarksville where we are building our dream home on 10 acres only 6 miles from the Bluegrass state! We have been married 19 years and unfortunately no kids for us. He is from Paducah and was born and raised on the Cats and St Louis Cardinals. Major rivalry going in family as we have nephew with full ride to UofL and he is a Cub fan! We are also Titan season ticket holders and love going to the games.
I am still learning about basketball and football and look forward to Lighthouse and theposts on officiating. Each year hubby and I for fun do our brackets and compare with each other. In the past I have picked Boston College Gonzaga, College of Charleston and some other upsets. This year I picked Bucknell and he thought I had lost my mind until while in a sports bar in Indy watching the game and Bucknell winning , a sportwriter for Sports Illustrated.com interviewed me from the table beside me because of my picks. He nicknamed me "The Queen of Upsets.. Master Prognosticator.":dude: May still be on their siteif anyone wants to check it out.( SI.com Stewart Bucknell's Master prognosticator article)Very Funny but true. These things really happen!! I loved coming to the other site to get info and opinions on the team and then tell my hubby. There were some very funny and intelligent posters there and even though I do not know them personally I know their names and followed them here because of their knowledge and love for the Cats. That was all I needed to know!!
I look forward to the upcoming seasons and reading posts by all of you.Hope you do not mind when I jump in!Keep up the great work!

Hey. My name is Brent and I have the doubly unfortunate unpleasure of both living in Louisville and attending the University of Louisville. That however does not change my dislike for the cards. I spend nearly all of my money on traveling to basketball and football games and can't think of a better way to spend it. I am new to the message board scene but look forward to getting to know and hopefully seeing many of you at the games.

I've been marrieda few days short of 30yearsto a Texan whohas adoptedmy interest in UK basketball. I also have three children, two in their 20's and one who is 12. Theyoungest is a Cats fan, too. I have agentle Lab/Brittany spaniel mix dog, a peculiar cat, two fancy mice, two surprisingly endearing rats and a White's tree frog named Dumpy (I love that frog).
I am a speech-language pathologist, and although I havetwo degrees from UTexas I never could getenthused aboutUT sports. I tried, but it just wasn't the same for me as UK basketball. I watch UK play whenever games are televised, but rarely get to go to one. Wedid get to goto New Orleans for the SEC tournament a few years ago and to the NCAA tournament games here in Austin this year. Hopefully, we'll be able to see some games this coming seasonand maybe meet the good people on this board.

Hello All,
I am Carrie, aka UK Chic.
I was born and raised in L-ville and even once thought about being a lil brother fan. Long story short, we sold candy bars in elementary school and you could pick a poster of your choice when you sold a whole box. I sold them, picked ul (since my dad was a HUGE UK fan) and took it home to him. I know he could have killed me but instead, took me to Midnight Madness. COMPLETELY converted me. We threw away the ul poster and I sold another box to get the UK print. :)
I am married to a die-hard UK fan and we love to travel with our friends to all the fun UK events. We are season football ticket holders but not lucky enough to get ahold of the b-ball ones.
UK b-ball is my passion. I could talk all year long about it. Going through withdrawals and keep looking at the SEC pictures from this year.
Love the BLUE and all my BLUE friends. Nothing better than wearing BLUE in a red town. Actually, have on a UK BLUE shirt today. Gotta love that!! :)

Hey all! I'm Katie. I am a 20-year-old English and Secondary Education
major at the University of Florida. This is my third and FINAL major --
I was in print journalism and then in broadcast news before switching
to education. I'm originally from east Jersey/Philly but ended up in
Orlando, FL about 8 years ago. My mom and brother still live in
Orlando, as well as my boyfriend UKJoey, so my time is split between
G-ville and Orlando. I love sports, especially football, basketball,
and NASCAR. Besides being a Gator fan, I'm also a huge Philadelphia
Eagles fan. I love to bake, but I can't cook. I also love to read and
go to the beach.
Um, I guess that's it. :D

My parents decided to load up the car and get out of the snow so we ended up in Orlando, Fl. I am a life long UK basketball fan and have just embraced the football team about 10 years ago. I am a sports nut and like to watch or try to play anything. My immediate family lives in Orlando but the relatives are still in Ky. I will be attending UF next year and majoring in history and then going on to teach. UFgirl is my girlfriend for almost 2 years and life isnt bad at all.

I'm not really from WCF, but I like this thread and I thought I'd chip in because I like to talk about my amazing self.
I'm an 18 year old that is currently living in DC. I will be attending UK in the fall. I was born into a hard core UK family so I was raised a cat fan. My family has pictures of me at 2 months old in a little UK jersey. I can't wait to move out to the great state and beggin a new life away from "the hill". I'm a christian and a conservative. I love trees and gardening. I like to read and write poetry and sit and talk about deep philosophy over a cup of coffee late into the night. I also like spending time with good looking, available KY girls ;).
I speak welsh, like to do theater tech work. I love my awsome stereo system (300 CD disk changer, tube amp 5 LP changing automatic turn table, 12 band EQ, 300 watt amp, huge mp3 collection, and 6 KLH concert speakers) so my hall mates at UK better look out.

I have been a Cat fan for a long long time. As most of us, since
becoming a fan, there have been but a handfull of games I have ever
missed and to this day I cringe that I missed a single one of them.
But, parts of life just get in the way sometimes don't they.
Born near Louisville but have lived in many different states as a kid
and as an adult. Back in this area now and this area is without
question the best of the lot. There are some real nice things about
other places I have lived. By the ocean for a few years and in the
Mountains for a few years etc. But none have the numbers of quality
people that make up the Wildcat Nation and fandom around these parts
and other truly good people found here.
I can't imagine myself ever not being a Cat fan anymore. We have had
our issues and a few things that went on at UK that broke our hearts,
but the truly good that comes from being a Cat fan far outweighs
anything negative we may have experienced. At least it does for me and
probably most of the rest.

both my parents are from crescent springs, ky (northern...near cincy)...
i was conceived in boulder coloradoand born in florida near cape canaveral while my dad was in theUSAF working on the 'mercury' missions. we moved to lexington when i was about 3 and i stayed there thru 8 1/2 years of college at UK. i graduated from the school of architecture. i spent a little time in NYC and Chicago but architecture is a hard enough profession without having to fight thru southern stereotypes all the time....(you'll probably notice i have a bit of a chip on my shoulder whendiscussing the media's portrayal of the south.) i am now married with a new son (18 months) and have been living in nashville for about 10 years... i have worked in just about every scale of building from airports to doghouses and have my own residential design business.
i played every sport i could until i was 12 and then i got burned out. i picked up the guitar when i was 14 and loved the reaction from the girls in the neighborhood. been playing ever since. i was a metalhead in highschool but was already leaning into fusion jazz by the time i was senior. now i just play whatever comes outand wish the hell i could pick bluegrass as well as some of my friends here in nashville.
i started watching the cats around 1976 when i was about 8 or 9. i always was a fan but i think i became much more of a fan after i moved away.
i HATE ties. love shorts, t-shirts and sandels...

My husband and I have been married for 18 years and we love UK sports. I am the fanatic in the family but he enjoys it as well. We have season football tickets and go to as many basketball games as we can find tickets for.
We don't have any children but we have a little dog named Amy and she is our baby. She might as well be human. She is laying on the couch looking at me as I type this.

My wife (a Georgia Tech girl) and I have made a tradition of getting to Rupp to see the game just before Christmas, and then driving down to Paducah to see my folks. That is, except last year. We made the game, but the bad snow down in Western Ky made us go straight back to Georgia.
Looking forward to a title in '06.

My name isGarry. I'm 56, and I live in Valdosta, Ga. I retired here from the U. S. Air Force. I was born in Casey County, Ky. That's not far from Somerset. I lived in Ky. until I went into the AF.
I got my love for sports and UK from my dad. I've always been a Wildcat fan, thanks to him.
My first memories of UK basketball come from the championship game in 1958. It was on tv, I believe, a day or two after the live game. Most of my attachment to the team comes from tv and radio. I've seen only one game in person. That was at Florida in 2001 or 2002. I don't ever have any expectations of seeing another game in person although I'd love to see just one game at home.
The first favorite that I had was probably Johnny Cox. I also liked Billy Ray Lickert of that era. I've also come to love a lot of the other greats and not so greats. I especially liked Cotton Nash, Dan Issel, Louie Dampier, Pat Riley, Kenny Walker, Winston Bennett, and Anthony Epps. My favorite team of all time was Rupp's Runts.
I have very little interest in UK football, but I liked the team from about 1965 that had, I think, Rodger Byrd, Larry Seiple, and Rick Norton on it. If I remember correctly, Rick Norton was the first player that the New Orleans Saints ever drafted. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
As for the current basketball team, I think Tubby is a great coach, but I believe he's offensively challenged. If he could ever get the team to play as well offensively as it does defensively, what a great team he could put on the floor.
By the way, Sam's my cat. He's been with me for about 15 years.

My father was a UK grad and High School football and basketball coach. he infected me with that wonderfulBig Blue virus at an early age (5).My first live UK game was seeing the Runts clobber Vanderbilt at the old Memorial Coluseum. I am 47, an ex Navy vetran 77-82. I am a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor for the last 20 years, and currently am Administrator at a drug treatment program in a prison in Northwest Tn. I have 3 sons, one a student at UT( ARGH!!!!) andanother plays college baseball at UT at Martin. My hobbies are fishing, poker, fine cigars and UK atheletics. I have aAWESOME study in my basement decorated with the FINEST collection of UK memorabilia and UK bricka brak in West Tennessee. My UT friends say they feel physically ill just entering the room. I'm glad to be here and look forward to the coming season with excitement and hope; JUST LIKE EVERY YEAR. GO CATS

This was a great idea -- a thread introducing ourselves, so we get to know the people behind the screen names!
I'm a 28 year-old who currently lives in Lexington, where I've just finished my M.A. in Theatre at U.K. Now, I'm onthe job hunt, so who knows where I'll be living come basketball season, but wherever I am, I'll definitely be cheering on the 'Cats (and whatever team Chuck Hayes ends up playing for)!

My name is Dave, I was born & raised in Louisville and just moved to Columbus, Ohio in January. I'm 34, an AVP for a regional bank and I'm getting married next Friday to the love of my life.
I've been a UK fan since birth, my father took me to a lot of games and made me watch hundreds of others on television while listening to Cawood on the radio. I was/am a member of WCF since 2001 and created the user name of "BrassowFan" out of my admiration for the way the guy played and left everything on the court. IMO, he was the perfect example of a UK player.

Jon here. I was born and raised in Muhlenberg County (proud home of Patrick Sparks). I played for Muhlenberg North HS where Patrick's father was an assistant at the time. I rememberPat coming in the gym and trying to practice with us as a young kid. The kid had it back then and has it now. I've been a Big Blue fan since the day I was born.
I am 30 yrs old, married and living in Charlotte, NC. I don't have any children but I have 3 dogs and 2 cats that I love more than anything, well, except for my wife.
I was in the Air Force for 8 yrs and recently separated in 2002. I was military police and I was stationed in some pretty cool places during my career. Kuwait, Italy and the Pentagon were my favorite duty stations. I now work for Moore & Van Allen (huge law firm) in Charlotte. I recently was promoted toa Jr. Network Engineer after providing user support for 3 yrs.
I love allsports except soccer and hockey. I am a season ticket holder for the Charlotte Bobcats. I sure hope Bogans stays around down here.

jaken...60 birds?? That's interesting. I'd like to know more about THAT, I guess you have an aviary?
jaken
06-12-2005, 09:26 AM
Well, not really an aviary, just most of the house dedicated to them. We breed some of the smaller species (Lovebirds, Tiels, Conures), but have a number of "pets' including the larger Macaws, Amazons, Toos, and African Greys. Really gets interesting around here when they all start jabbering at each other. They each have theirown "species specific" language, but use "human talk" to bridge the gap between the species.Other than us, they're the most intelligent species on the planet (yep, that includes the Chimps, Dolphins & Whales). No other species that can learn our language and use it in context when they talk to you. They're actually living Dinosaurs, direct decendents of good ole' T-Rex and family. They've been around a lot longer than we have and they're a real trip to live with.
By the way, if anybody wants to continue the bird thing, e-mail me at jimvic2@vci.net (mailto:jimvic2@vci.net). This is a KY BBall Board, so let's not waste board space on an unrelated subject.

I have been in medical sales since I graduated in 81,
I grew up listening to Cawood and

Hey everyone, I'm Jon, a 23 year old wildcat fan. I grew up in Radcliff, Ky (North Hardin High School for those of you who know schools better than cities). I lived in Germany for 3 years (even got to knock down part of the Berlin Wall in 89). When I came back in 91 I became a huge Cat fan as they began their rise to power once again. Igot my BBA in marketing from UK in May of 2004. I am married and currently working at Wal-Mart on New Circle Road in Lexington until my wife finishes at UK. Then we hope to go on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. Glad to meet all of you.

Jaken and Capcat got me to thinking about tropical birds-I love birds too. My husbanddoesn't share my passion for them. There was a restaurantby Clays Ferry several years ago called Parrot Gardens. The birds there were awesome. They also had some monkeys and other animals. There was a pair of black swans. They were beautiful. Does anybody remember this place? I don't know if it was there very long. I remember that they only accepted cash, which would probably push some business away.

Oh, I get it! You're logged on and she's feeding the baby. Getting any sleep these days?

My name is Aaron. I lived for 4 years in Paducah, KY. I love the Wildcats. I moved there in January of 96 from western Colorado. I knew nothing of NCAA basketball then, and I grew to love it. Of course, the span of my time in KY was great, since I saw us go three straight years to the championship.
I am now a seminary student in SC. Yes, that's right, I am deep in the heart of enemy territory, and I defiantly wear my blue UK hat with pride every chance I get. I hate the Gamecocks, and I'll argue with any of their fans until I'm blue in the face about which school is better.
My wife doesn't care for the wildcats, but cheers for them in front of me to maintain marital harmony. ;) She is from here and likes Clemson. The good thing is that she hates both Duke and UNC. I figure that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, so it works out okay. :) She's great.

While I responded to BrassowFan's news, I haven't really told much about myself. Yet, after noticing that three people on this page of the thread had mentioned living in Paducah, I decided that it was time.
My name is Tana. I was born and raised in Paducah by two loving and, thankfully, sports-loving parents, which has helped to develop in me an absolute LOVE for UK basketball and football. I taught schoolin Morganfield, Kentucky, and now live in Cadiz. My hubby and I have two sons, the older of which got married last Saturday, which I shared in the response to BrassowFan. :)Our other son lives and works in Indianapolis.
My loves are, in order: God, my family, UK sports and friends as a tie. :)I also love to sing, ride jet skis, decorate, and bake (mostly eat!) desserts. Some of my greatest wishes are for UK to have a winning season in football, for UK to appear in theFinal Four again soon, and for me and my hubby to have a grandkid in the next several years. I LOVE babies so much that I even have dreams in which my hubby and I have a little baby. My husband calls those dreams "nightmares." :)
I love and appreciate this new site. I tend to LOVE just about everything and everybody, and especially CHOCOLATE! :)That's just me!!!

My name is Jeff and I graduated in '94 from the university located in the town where I-71, I-64, and I-65 intersect ... it was an 11th hour decision (scholarships, etc.) for me as UK still has my housing deposit. Though I attended the "other" school, I remained true to my heart and allegiance belonged/belongs to UK. In fact, I lived in Stevensen Hall with the "other" school's b-ball team for 3 years. During this time I fraternized enough to eat pizza with and play video games with most of the players ... and I have a lot of stories. Each time I had a player visit my room, they said "Man, when are you going to take all this UK stuff down?" And I would reply, "At the end of the year when I move out...."
To this day, I know many U of L fans, but all my close friends are UK fans. I currently live in eastern Jefferson County and work in downtown Louisville and I am married with 2 children--1 girl, 1 boy. And I'm also an alumni of PRP.
