We all heard about UL's freshmen class and how great it was, while UK's was maligned by UL fans and some UK fans.

Those UK frosh score over half of UK's 61 points in the win yesterday. I think the critics are learning that this class is pretty darn talented and team oriented. That bodes well for the future.

UK Freshmen Combined Stats 12/16:
30 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 6 turnovers, 66 mins. of play

* Per Rivals:

Rick Pitino tapped into his northeastern roots and secured commitments from some of the top players in the New Jersey-New York area. Earl Clark (http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=30653), the No. 15 ranked player in the senior class, is a 6-foot-9 prospect that can play all over the floor. Another Jersey 5-star player Derrick Caracter (http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=11878) is a mammoth of a player with incredible passing skills from the post. The Big Apple yields up four-star point guard Edgar Sosa (http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=30655) to the Big East school and he'll be joined by Wisconsin native Jerry Smith (http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=25383), a talented shooting guard.

Clark and Caracter, at least to this point in their careers, appear to have been vastly overrated by recruiting analysts. I like Jerry Smith, and Sosa (kind of like Ramel Bradley) is a solid player when he's under control and his jumpshot is falling.

I wouldn't say that all of UK's recruits have been vastly underrated, but underrated for sure.
