Indiana is a flat-out devastating defensive team. I've seen a couple of publications that put them near the top of the country.
Like the Cats, though, they're offensive on offense. Not sure why that is when you've got two all-conference big men in White and Morris on both teams.
But I'm with Raftery. I like watching games like this. Call me crazy. I'm not sure it can win you any championships unless it's paired with great talent, but toughness is sorely lacking in the college game. I like teams who aren't afraid to scrap.

IU is going to win this one going away.
Raftery and Bilas are raving about Indiana.
SIU was 8-1 before this game with their only loss being to Arkansas, in overtime.
This one helps our RPI.

Speaking of that:
Southern Illinois is #9 in the RPI.
The win over IU looks a little better tonight, I'd say. :D

 You're not talking to yourself, are you? Probably not, but if you'd said something like "Good point, Will", I really would've been worried.
I'll say it though: Good point, Will. Though the win over IU always looks good, this is like that icing people put on their cakes occasionally. :thumbup

I lead WCN in self-quotes. :ggrin:
I tend to post something, forget a point, and then go back to it and want to plug in fifty different counter-points. It's almost delusional. :nada:

Will, you're not alone in enjoying a good defensive slugfest. I don't particularly enjoy watching two teams play like that if I don't have a rooting interest in the game, but I like to see teams I root for in any sport lock another team down defensively (or with great pitching if we're talking about baseball).
But if IU keeps up this defensive effort, they could make some noise in the Big Ten, and as you said, it makes us look better, both subjectively and in the RPI.

He muttered it under his breath as he was typing.:)
IN actually should have put SIU away a lot quicker and easier. SIU was giving the mid range penetration, and IN was doing their best to miss em. As it ended they still knocked them out in the last 10 minutes, even though they lost their starting guard with 2.5-3 minutes left in the game.
Two things, SIU is probably overrated, and IN has to have more reliable offensive producers to do much in the big 10. They have a working defense that will keep them in games, but their offensive capability may not be enough to gather many wins. Middle of the pack would be an excellent finish in conference, but they will have a lot of games where they are within 10.
