A little information about me, I've been to every home game in the Demoss-era and am a hardcore UK Hoops fan...that said...let's get down to business with today's game recap....

After the hour-long ride back home, I have put the puzzle of my heart back together enough to make some good observations from what we did today.

As my previous post stated, I thought this was one of the games we would lose. I didn't see us losing by 30 though. I think LSU is such a phenomenal team and if they wanted, they could've ran the score up to whatever they wanted. Pokey is an extremely classy and intelligent coach, and is probably one of the best women's coaches that I know of existing. Her staff also seems very knowledgable and good. Augustus and Fowles are the most intimidating players I have seen since I have been going to DeMoss-era games (which is every single one of them).

That said, I think we got exposed and exploited today. We are young, which hurt us very badly today. Also, I think Humphrey did not step up enough as a Senior as I expected her to. I didn't expect to win this game by any means...but I did think it would be 18 or less. I am very dissapointed, but I think DeMoss will use this game as a motivational tool and it may pay off by the time Louisville comes to Rupp in less than 2 weeks. I really hope we can recover mentally from a game like this.

The good news is we can afford this loss easily. We are 8-1 still, regardless of how easy those 8 were or might end up looking by the ends of their seasons. I think this was a reality check for myself and the team, which was much needed at this point of the season.

I love this program so much that I can't be upset with anyone today really. They had loads more talent than we do at this point in the season, since we are still very young and the elder on our team besides Pfeiffer doesn't impose an SEC-caliber to me. I think Moe Gamble played extremely well for a Freshman and we should be very very glad we have Moe. She will be really important in every SEC game throughout her career I believe. Carly showed why she was Miss Basketball today and hanged tough even when it got really bad. She played as well as I could have asked for her to play today, under the circumstances.

In closing, I would just like to say to anyone who talks to other fans...Do NOT Get Discouraged...keep the attendance up and tell everyone to keep showing up to these SEC games. We really need the crowd. As bad as it was today, the crowd intimidated a 2-Time Final Four team for a few minutes today and changed the game at times.

I can't wait to get Louisville at Rupp, and I bet the girls can't either...just don't forget Tennessee State.

I'd love to get some comments and criticism on my post. I don't have many people to talk to about women's basketball where I live. Thanks and have a good Christmas everyone.

HEY! First off, let me say Welcome to WCN! Glad to see you make it here. Hope you enjoy your stay here. Secondly, great first post. My name is TRexSmarts and if you look at some of my post I like to do analysis of the game. I got to do my first women's analysis a few games ago when I was able to watch them for the first time on tv against Georgetown. I'm going to be doing my analysis for this LSU game soon that you can read. My analysis follow the theme "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". I been doing this for a year now and this is my second year coming up doing it mostly for the guys. But if I'm able to watch the women games more often I will continue doing my analysis for them as well.

But as for this LSU game, I'm not going to take away anything from LSU. There clearly where the better talented team on the court. But with that said, when you see Mickey DeMoss asking refs what her players are doing to get these calls called on them. That got to make you wonder. Again, I'm not blaming the refs or anything. It just seems that these refs protect the upper level teams or honestly believe that a lower level team surely can't stop a talented team like LSU without fouling. But I will soon be working on my analysis shortly!

Again, welcome to WCN and if you need anything just let me know. By the way, just curious. How did you hear about us?

I followed the link from UKHoopsfans.com actually. Thanks and its great to see a quick reply. I look forward to chatting with you about the women. There don't seem to be a lot of online followers or at least not many who care enough to post.

I will be quite honest with you, the Lady Cats are my second favorite Women's College Basketball team. I have always been interested in seeing them do well year after year. My favorite team is where Mickey DeMoss came from, the Lady Vols. I been following them for years. It's the Lady Vols that actually got me interested in women's college basketball. My order of favorite team is:

1) Tennessee Lady Vols

2) Kentucky Lady Cats

3) Western Kentucky Lady Toppers

4) Stanford Lady Cardinals

5) UConn Lady Huskies

When Mickey DeMoss was hired, I knew that she will turn around the Lady Cats program and she is just doing that. Still a few years off but she will have UK Lady Cats in the upper level of the SEC.

I was at Memorial today, here are a few game and atmosphere observations.

Attendance was 5,900, a great crowd. It was a ticket sellout, but the no-shows are understandable since many UK Bball and Fball fans have bought tickets to show their financial support.

It was a good atmosphere, the crowd was loud but also laid back in a relaxed sort of way. There were a lot of familiesthere. The player intro was great with the team members all being introduced and each giving a tee shirt to a kid down on the court.

Mickie DeMoss was greeted with a standing ovation as she entered the Memorial floor. She has called this her dream job and you could sense that it's true.

For the traditional (older) crowd, it was great to visit Memorial Coliseum. me I can't tell you how it brings back the days when I watched Rupp's teams on that floor. I would like to think that the players should understand the history of the place.

The Cats came out with a lot of fire and held a lead for a short while. With about five to eight minutes gone by LSU started to play their game and it was fairly easy to tell that a win would be a near impossibility.

No real cut on the Cats but I do not believe any of our players could crack the LSU top seven lineup. LSU has played in three consecutive final fours. Their senior, Seimone Augustus, was unstoppable. She is considered one the best players in the country.

From what I saw today, we have a long way to go but things seem to be in place that will pave a way to get us there eventually. With the fan support, Memorial Coliseum to play in, The coaching staff and the upcoming new practice facility it is only a matter of time until we upgrade the talent to be competitive with the nations best.

And a big Wildcat welcome to you UKS2H!

Awesome! Adam2pt is one of the mods for this forum. We want to get this forum started. So, let your friend's over there know about this site. WCN wants to support the Lady Cats as well.

Ed,

I watched the game on TV and I must say that the crowd was loud. They were fired up. The atmosphere just was great I thought! I just hope the crowds just continue growing and it becomes like Tennessee and UConn atmosphere where they have to use Rupp arena to accommodate the crowd.

I plan to be there for the UL game at Rupp. I've already scheduled a couple of hours off early on Wed.
