Not sure if it's just my computer or not, but the board and the icons are taking awhile to load compared to what it should be. Anyone else having this problem?

No, it's not your computer. I have been noticing that as well. I have been looking into myself to see. We might have to restart the server. Who knows?

Is it still doing it? Everything is running smoothly here...

Still having the problem here Dan. Is it the server or the software? I'm not familiar with WOWBB forum software. I've always used either VBulletin or Invision for my boards. Invision is VERY nice and rather cheap for a site this size.

I'm still getting slow uploads of graphics and some noticeable hanging time on occasions. I'm going to restart my computer and see if there is any difference in the speed but it's still there.

Do you have spybot or adware on your computer? If you do, you might want to run them. I ran mine and found that I had some spyware on my computer and they found it and deleted them and now my computer is acting somewhat normal but better than yesterday and this morning that's for sure.

Trex (or admins),
I have noticed some slowdown in loading of the graphics especially the toolbar for the reply to posts. I think I began to notice the slowdown when a modification was done to the smileys on the left (shows ALL of them instead of a limited few).

I will take a look into that then.

I've just noticed it the past month. I miss posting but it takes forever for the icons and stuff to load so it kind of gets frustrating. :(

Try logging out of WCN and then due two things:
1) Clear the IE cache by closing out IE. Then, right click on the IE icon. Go to "Properties" and then click on "Delete Cookies". When done with that one, click on "Delete Files" and make sure you check "Delete All Offline Content" and then click "OK". When that is done, click "Clear History" and then "OK".
2) Once you did that, then come back to WCN and click on "Login" but before logging in click on "Reset Cookies used by this Board". Then login and see if that makes any differences.

UK 4 Life and Coldstream,
Try getting on the board and see if it loads faster for you? I have been messing around with same settings. Let me know if it seems faster on your end.

I clear everything and it's still very slow here. I'm not sure what the deal is, every other site I go to seems fine?

I even have DSL so I'm not sure what is wrong if most others aren't having problems. I guess I'll just read the posts...lol

Is it just hanging on the graphics or what's exactly is it doing? You should still be able to post though. Do me a favor and try to keep an eye on the bottom of the screen where you see the IE icon and "Done". Tell me what url it gets hung on.

One thing I will try to do today is reduce the size of a couple of the major graphics. The main banner and some of the ad banners are probably bigger than they need to be.

I was messing with some of my settings to see if I could duplicate the problem and I actually figured out a way to MAKE it lag - I went into "Tools" and"internet options" and clicked on the "Settings" button under the temporary internet files heading. Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" I clicked "Every visit to the page". This gave me the same symptoms you all are describing.
My recommendation: Change that setting over to "Automatic". That stores most of the graphics in your cache and just updatesany changedinformation on a page. Hopefully that will solve the lag issue you guys are having.

Dan,
I tried what you said to do on changing it over to automatic and it seems to have fixed it! Everything is loading fine now and quick. Hopefully this takes care of it, if not I'll let you guys know. Thanks a million for every ones assistance!

I haven't been able to see improvement and I just moved my desktop from WinXP to Fedora FC4 (linux). Both cases, I was using Mozilla (Firefox) and I don't see any options to do what was suggested.
