District finally brings home championship. With an all Fifith Region final. The placement eludessix high schools for sometime. The best ever finish is third. So this year both teams are undefeated and put this 16 team monster to rest. When I was in school, I thought. We had it won. I guess there is silver lining after all....

Congrats to my alma mater...E-town... on a big win. Looks like some big games to go in the series between these two teams in the 5th Region this season.

I'm actually surprised that E-town won this thing. A friend and I went to the games Saturday night, and although E-town has a good team, they weren't the best I saw. I would have bet good money that either John Hardin or Shelby County would win it.

Pettigrew was in foul trouble in the game I watched, so I probably didn't get a good indication of how good E-town really is. Pettigrew is a heck of an athlete, but a pretty raw basketball player. He has surprisingly nice form on his jump shot (he certainly has a football player's body, and those guys are usually robotic and lumbering; Pettigrew is pretty smooth and in control with the ball), and can get it off with ease, but I was expecting him to dominate against a pretty average Fairdale team. He didn't dominate, but he played well in stretches. As I said earlier, his foul trouble limited him a good deal.

Thanks for that input Joneslab. I live in SC so I couldn't do much but read about it.

On another note, Jodie Meeks is playing in Columbia this week. he actually played today at 2:30 against Lancaster but I couldn't make it. Lexington Catholic is here along with St. Anthony's. It's the Chic-Fil-A Classic and has some good talent.

I'll be there watching tomorrow.

My friend told me about that tournament. Supposed to be the best high school "showcase" ever put together.
