Our band sucks and I think they realize it to with the show they chose. I believe that they were even worse, what was up with the sax player, he sounded like a dying cow in heat. Everyone around me both UK and Clemson fans were yelling out "Please make it stop !"
Does anybody else agree with me that the performance was absolutely horrible and embarassing ? With local bands like Lafayette and Dunbar having won state band championships, why can't we put together a decent band also ?

Bands are not built over night. If the football team continues to improve...the band will play sweeter music.

Their director at the time didn't help his budget when he wore the Ditch Rich & Mitch shirt.
If it's the same guy, he doesn't tip either. Total jack monkey.

I might have to start listening to the band now... In all honesty I really don't want a big band... Takes up more lower level seats and draws away more money from the football and basketball programs. The worse thing about the band is every game when we're in a clutch situation they get together with the wildcat and say hey lets start the wave...its not a sign of boredom, its original, and it will definitely get the fans into the game .
I've been going to games for around 8 or 9 years now and the band has sucked the whole time. I believe they are even getting worse. At halftime I go down to the concession area because it is just embarrassing.

Band scholarships are down. The way to fix it is pour money into the arts.
The UK band was pretty good in the 70s, though.

The announcer said that the sax player was "Grammy Nominated". Are you kidding me. Take two!

Practicemarching in a straight line would be a good place to start.

They could have had Spanish Moss, WildcatDan, and me sing at halftime.:D. Well, we would have been cheap.
Sine the Oak Ridge Boys were already there ...
Did the Oak Ridge Boys have some pressing engagement that they couldn't have done the half-time show?!?!?!?

I knowmost, if not all, the band members volunteer their time and effot. So, I'll just say they have lots of room for improvement.

Lighthouse, you didn't even make it to the game. I heard you was in jail on Friday.did they make youputon UT orange or did you wear you old black and white striped shirt? isn't it wierd how prisons use Ref shirts or UT shirts for the inmates? or do they just let them where their own clothes and since most of the crooks are refs or UT players, that is the colors they have?
by the way, when will yourCD be ready?

When I went to the 99 Music City Bowl, Pam Tillis sang. They also had Flatts or Scruggs playing the banjo, I don't recall which one it was. That was why I made the thread about how crappy I thought the Music City Bowl was this year. I wasn't talking about the stadium, which is awesome, I was talking about the organization of the thing.

I could handle the band playing. Not great, but manageable. The sax player was OK, but those high notes he was hitting...even 6 rows from the very top of LP Field, I wanted to plug my ears. He was trying too hard to be jazzy, and it failed miserably.

Didn't they have Pam Tillis. It has been a while but that is who I remember singing I think.

Ashley could have asked her mom and sister to have a reunion performance and then joined them on stage. She couldhave used the opportunity to show a little love towards the football program.

Well-said, bleedbluelady.
Too, in regard to the sax player, the problem, I believe, was the acoustics in the stadium. In my opinion, he had sounded really good in Commonwealth Stadium.
