NASHVILLE — Rich Brooks had a good idea of where the University of Kentucky football program could be moving into 2007 season.
Many fans of the Wildcats thought three years at the helm of the program was enough for the 65 year-old Brooks, who had seven years of NFL experience including 13 wins in two years as the Rams head coach.
Following Friday’s 28-20 Music City Bowl victory over Clemson, Brooks should be allowed to feel a comfort zone.
The bowl victory was the first in 22 years for UK and the eight-win season is a rarity. And the postseason win came over a Clemson team which defeated the two schools (Wake Forest and Georgia Tech) that played for the ACC championship.
Brooks and his staff had a difficult week after a mid-season 48-0 loss at LSU, but they bounced back with three consecutive SEC wins and a near upset at Tennessee.
