First of all, this is the same post as I posted on UKHoops.com, with a few modifications... Here's the link to the Photobucket Slideshow of 16 pics..

As I drove downtown and into the Rupp Arena scene, I could not believe what I saw. From that point, I knew this was going to be a special crowd. I thought it might hit 8,000 at first, and as the night went on I kept looking around and telling my friend that it had to be at least 9,000. When they announced that attendance had crept over 10,000, I felt like a proud father on his daughter's first Homecoming Dance night. If only she had won the crown. http://www.ukhoopsfans.com/forums/Smileys/new/sad.gif

I think it all started when Elliott got her 2nd foul. I remember thinking to myself "Oh, no." From that point, we continued to go on hot/cold streaks and never really did anything without Elliott or Pheiffer in there. I refuse to pick on Freshman. Carly is still young and so are the others. I don't think it's too cruel to say that Mahoney and Bowman need to start playing like girls who have started 37 games in a row. I am not sure what is going on with Sam, but she sure hasn't progressed as well as I wished. I think DeMoss coached a good game under the circumstances. The only thing I might have done different is let Gamble give Roddy some relief during those heavy minutes she was playing in the 1st half. Even 2-3 minutes might have helped Roddy save some energy and be able to be more aggressive when she was out there than she was.

Anywhom, I enjoyed the game and if you read my predictions earlier in the season I had question marks by the UL game in my wins column. I think tonight showed why. I knew Covington was going to be good, but I didn't realize how talented the rest of their team is. I definitely think UofL could compete in the SEC. That said, I think we can and will too. The only two games that matter to most fans right now are the two losses, LSU and Louisville. I take a different look at the season than most. I don't think we need to beat good teams in order to get into the NCAA tournament. I predicted a win over Louisville with doubts, so I don't think it's that big of a deal that we lost. People quickly forget how good UofL can be. The way I look at is that if we win all the games that we are supposed to win, we will get into the tournament at a 20-7 or 19-8 record. I predicted losses to Wake Forest and Ga. Tech, so maybe the girls will make up for this loss by beating one of those teams on the road. I would love to see that. Also, I think we may be in trouble @ Ole Miss. I predicted a win there, but I'm not really sure now that Ole Miss has played as well as they have.

I keep going back to the predictions I made because the big picture matters a lot more than the individual game tonight. It's a non-conference loss to a potential Top 25 Big East team.

WE ARE 9-2! Calm down. Once we lose a game that I know we can win, I'll get worried.

Happy New Year and Go Cats!
