Now that Kentucky has dropped two straight Southeastern Conference games and joined the other league teams in chasing defending national champion Florida, it appears that the conference could have more overall balance than ever.

Florida is 5-0 in league play, but the other 11 teams have at least two losses. Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Georgia are tied for second in the SEC Eastern Division at 4-2. Auburn leads the SEC West with a 3-3 mark while Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State are all 2-4.

Florida coach Billy Donovan has been coaching in the SEC for 16 years, including his time at Kentucky as an assistant coach. He says he's never "seen anything like this," and says having so many players leave college early for the NBA has changed the collegiate game.

His talented junior class came into college not as heralded as the class Kentucky had the same year. UK has already lost Rajon Rondo out of that group to the NBA and Randolph Morris tried to leave but went undrafted before returning to Kentucky.

I don't know. Futility seems to be the word at UK.

The league certainly has a lot of evenness. This is about as balanced, top to bottom, as I've seen the SEC. I see about five teams who could make it to the Sweet 16, and UK is one of them.

But up top, the SEC doesn't really have much. Florida's the only real Final Four contender.

Parity?? Someone tell Florida, who is 5-0 in the SEC there is parity.
