Meeks' poise impresses teammate
MORRIS STRUGGLES ON OFFENSE, DEFENSE
By Jerry Tipton
HERALD-LEADER STAFF WRITER
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Kentucky guard Jodie Meeks wasn't the highest freshman scorer in the 82-74 victory at Arkansas yesterday. But that didn't mean he didn't stand out as what teammate Randolph Morris called "a rarity."

By that, Morris meant Me

Meeks again displayed unusual poise for a first-year player in a hotly competitive game.

With Kentucky staring at a 14-point deficit in its first game in a month of tough games, Meeks scored 13 of his 15 points inside the final nine minutes. That bodes well for a UK team that faces many tough opponents the rest of the season.

"He's not affected by teams when we're down," Morris said. "He's not affected by pretty much anything on the court. He's a rarity in the fact that as a freshman, he's somehow not fazed by the coach always on him. With that mental toughness, everything else is easy."

Jodie Meeks' poise also impresses this UK fan.:DToo, KUDOS not only to Jodie, but also to his dad for helping to instill that mental toughness that Morris mentioned. I so respect Jodie the player AND Jodie the person. We are most fortunate to have him as a Kentucky Wildcat. I can only imagine how great a senior leader Jodie will be. :)

I see glimpses of a "Chuck Hayes" heart in Jodie Meeks. That's very exciting. :thumbup

I'm impressed as well. Meeks is wonderful player and a great get for the recruiting staff. Solid!
