Just browsin through topics and saw your post. I LOVE this song, one of my favorites. The lyrics are really heart wrenching, and Patty's voice is perfect.

I'm listening to Dwight Yoakam's new "Blame the Vain". First listen sounds pretty good.

Not listening right now, but on the way home from work I listened to Eva Cassidy. I got some songs from herafter reading about her on WCF from, I think, bigsky and Jeff Craddock. My Lord...what a voice. Listening to Over the Rainbow made me pass up my exit on I71. Just getting into her other stuff. Got my wife hooked on her now.

Listening to "Waltz for Debby", recorded over forty years ago by the Bill Evans Trio. IMO, one of the two or three greatest jazz albums of all time.

ukbob, Eva Cassidy will do that to you. I once heard her and her band at Border's Bookstore in Rockville, MD, maybe around 1995 or so. They used to showcase local talent and I remember being taken by this woman with an incredible voice. I filed my impressions but never followed up. A few years later my strereo advisor was auditioning some new speakers for me and played Eva's version of "Autumn Leaves" from Live at Blues Alley. I was pinned to my chair by that voice and immediately went out and bought all the Eva I could find. (And I bought the speakers, as well. Still got 'em.) I still regret that I didn't find out more about that singer and her band while she was still alive. She played around the DC area for years, sometime in nearly empty bars.

Another UK fan who loves Eva is our old friend jayceedee from down under. He abolutely loves her music.

I saw the Kinks on their Preservation Act tour, Davies threw budweisers into the audience, and they toured with the Hot Licks (Dan Hicks backup singers Naomi Ruth Eisenberg and the other woman whose name escapes me.) They are a favorite group of mine, even have the kids liking them. Certainly my favorite two albums are Muswell Hillbillies and Lola vs Powerman. They're number one, top of the pops in my book.

Of course, they have the awesome later songs as well, Celluloid Heroes, come dancin, I wanna Fly like Superman, that song that Chrissie Hynde did, you can go on and on. I have an imported double ultimate Kinks Kollection cd that's got a lot, waterloo sunset, etc. Live, Preservation Act was killer, and they did Alcohol when davies threw the budweisers, and of course twentieth century man and Celluloid heroes.

Everybody's a dreamer, and everybody's a star, and everybody's in showbiz...I can see why Mel liked that.

I saw the Kinks at Louisville Gardens. I have always been a fan, but perhaps not to the extent of some others here. Dave Davies had reason to be upset as someone threw a bottle on stage and broke his acoustic guitar. Even so, they played a great show. After a couple of encores, the lights came on and people got up to leave when Ray Davies ran back on stage and called everyone back to their seats. They had one more song, Lola. Great show.

BTW, listening to U2 - Gloria.

Listening to an old blues song from way back when,

Can't Shake The Sands of Florida From My Shoes

I'm sad, I've got the blues,
can't shake the sands of Florida from my shoes
I sigh and don't know why, I guess
I've got those dear old Florida blues

The smell of the rain, the sweet sugar cane
The feel of my seat in the saddle,
I'd give all I own If I could be home
And back in the swamp catching cattle

I guess, I'll have those blues, cause
I can't shake the sands of Florida from my shoes
