UNC had Deanquietly usher Matt Doherty out the back door. Who at Kentucky tells Tubby the gig is up?

I do not care who it is as long as Tubby listens and gets the hell out of the UK program.

Could get really ugly.
Mitch can't let it drag out.
Hope that we make an unexpected NCAA run to the Sweet 16 and Tubby resigns gracefully (bonus check in hand) a la Joe B.

See, THATS the problem. We don't have anybody firmly entrenched in the program that would tell Mitch "Boy Blunder" that its time. Mitch can and will do as HE pleases. As long as money is pouring in.........everything is fine and dandy to him

It's ultimately up to the BIG, BIG, doners and Lee Todd to make the decision.

Mitch is a bean counter, not a win counter. As long as the money pours in, he is happy.

If you honestly think that Mitch doesnt care about wins, well....your crazy. No one involved with UK likes losing and no one is happy about it. Two years ago, Mitch would have been strung up if he were to let Tubby go, so he gives him an extension. Now, things are going poorly and Mitch made a "blunder" in signing Tubby. You can't have it both ways.

That is because the guys who were "entrenched" in the program allowed our two major sports programs to get slapped with probation.
Barnhart has done an excellent job as ATHLETICS Director. We have a comprehensive and successful ATHLETICS program at UK, now. That didn't exist before his tenure. Whether we like it or not, Mitch is not the Basketball Director.

I thought the contract for Tubby was the biggest blunder in UK history personally. Tubby has done nothing at UK to warrant being the highest paid coach in the country, national title in 98 or not.

I hope you're wrong, but we'll see won't we?
I'm quite sure that Mitch is uncomfortable being the "Man Who Fired Tubby Smith", but those of us close to the program know it must be done.
And then, to make matters more difficult, Mitch must find a boffo replacement.
Does Donovan ride to the rescue? Does Pitino reprise the "Return of the King"?
Tom Crean? Mike Bray? Feh.
Pelphrey? That move would make Alabama's football coaching follies look reasonable.
Look, anybody dissing the fans apparently didn't notice the RECORD CROWD at the UF game. (You remember, that's the one where we got down by 16 before Vitale had time to mention Duke ... )
Travis? Maybe. Might just be enough of a martinet to make it work if Donovan or Pitino say no.
I like what Mitch has done with everything except the most important thing.
That time has come.

I'm sure that there are tens of thousands of volunteers! I would expect that Tubby is going to get his first taste of it when his name is announced at the next home game.
