I can give up on Tubby Smith without giving up on my Wildcats. For some this point is inseperable, but for me they are NOT mutually exclusive.

Living thru ES and living thru OTS is 2 different things.

One had some real problems and the other can not recruit nor coach.

I will stay on the ship even when it sinks. I will always cheer the CATS on through The good, the bad and the ugly. We are at the bad stage right now and I will continue to go to the games and cheer loud.

I just hope this team hasn't given up. Some of the comments coming fom players really has me worried.:dmad:

Who has jumped ship?

I have not seen anyone say they are not supporting the team.

We all love our Cats.

I have seen a lot of people say they no longer want OTS to coach

OUR team.

Is he a good man? Without question!

Is he the man to coach our Cats? Thats the question.

I have toanswer, no.

Ive never been sure what the whole "not giving up" thing is. Most on here have been UK fans all of thier life. It's not like they are going out and getting a new team. Regardless of the record, how hard is it to watch a game?

Funny thing is though....and I agree, i am no Tubpologist or anything like that, but isn't Tubby part of the team so not supporting him means that we would rather him not do well? I can't separate Tubby from the team because he is a major part of the team. I don't see how youdon't see that

Tubby directs and guides the players, the players carryout his message. It is very possible, and likely in this case, to identify that you have good players on the court who are capable of competing at a higher level but disagree with the direction that they are being sent on.

I don't think you have to have coached or played to know something about the game.

My personal opinion is that what separated Tubby from other coaches in the past -- his ability to change and adapt as the game was going on -- has left him. He's never had the most talented teams in the field, but he was often able to outfox the other guy and win against better teams.

Now not only do we have an under-talented team, Tubby is making some flat-out odd coaching moves.

That's not an "expert" opinion. I think everybody here can see that. It's pretty clear, actually.

I think you are trying to split hairs here. Radiated was saying that he wasn't going to Atlanta that does not make him a bad UK fan. He will support UK from wherever he is. One more thing you can support the team and the coach and the ship and the captain but at some point if the ship is being steered toward an iceberg then at some point the captain needs to be replaced before the ship hits the ice berg just like the Titanic. What some of you are saying is that I will support my coach(captain)even if he is steering the ship toward an ice berg. I have supported Tubby for a long now but the longer he stays on as the head coach the more doubts I have about where he is taking our program. If he stays on and we do hit the ice berg I will go downwith the ship but I hope something willhappen to right our basketball ship before it is too late.

I agree with the first part of your post but as to Tubby's inability to coach or his odd choices, can't agree. Really this team has been set up to win 5 moregames this season and we have come up empty onALL FIVE. I don't see it as something Tubby has done. I can't think of any team in times past that has done this on him, and his coaching moves are the same pretty much now as they were then. What is different is that this team never gets over the hump, and I don't know if it is lack of delivery under the basket(forwards), lack of calmness in the guard play, lack of maturity, lack of anybody that is dominant in a one on one situation or what. But I don't think it is Tubby screwing up 5 times that has made the difference in those games. We all know for a fact that we have fumbled and stumbled at the crucial junction. Past teams just haven't done this consistently. Last years team clearly lost their games early and stayed lost, and we were fortunate when they even made it close. This years team has repeatedly brought themselves right back into contention and then fallen out. Wehave played well late WITH the lead, maybe better than any team in the last three years, but we seem to play panicked without the lead, or when we get to the short rows behind by 1-4 pts. Why? Tubby? Maybe I just don't see it but I don't think so. Tubby still calmsthem down and makes theadjustments to get back in the game, they somehow are not getting the final 3-4 pts to move out in front and trade pressure with the other team. I think thatthenear misses are whatdrives the fans nuts. Sure gets me tizzified.

Same here. UK all the way. I supported Pitino through and through, I'll support Tubby to the end, and if he gets replaces I'll support the new coach as well.

Go Cats! Knock down the Tigers while they're down and shut Big Baby up.

UK had three consecutive ten loss seasons through 00-02 and bounced back nicely with three good years of dominance between 03-05.

Give this team and coaching staff some time and we'll be back on the top.

That is you and that is sanity. Many would still want Tubby gone I promise. I will continue to support Tubby unitl he is officially no longer the coach at UK, then I will support the next guy and the next because he is the coach of the Cats. Many fans do not understand this and believe it is accepting mediocrity well let it be known that I am not.....Tubby better get his act together and I mean yesterday!!!!!, but he still has my support and will as long as he is coach.

This conversation has gone full circle considering a Final Four appearance has NOT traditionally been the goal of a UK coached team. Winning the NCAA tournament and adding #8 to the trophy case belongs at the top.

Too many times I read that simply being one of the last four standing, is all that is expected. Rupp, Hall, Sutton, Pitino or Smith never settled for second best. Why should we? I just so happened to be bitterly disappointed in 1975, 1984, 1993 and 1997.

IMHO, the only missing ingredient at UK is better players. They have the facilities, the environment, the fans and a coach who's done it before.

Final Four is first goal, of course winning the damn thing is expected from a Kentucky team. You have to get to the Final Four to cut the nets down.

But sometimes the team is simply not the best, a Final Four help in media exposure, recruiting, etc...Often teams get there the first time and come back the next year and win it all. UK has a pretty successful record in Final Fours.

Not giving up on Tubby can only mean you have given up on UK, at least the UK that has been around before most of us were thought of.

Tubby has birthed a cult that will happily march from paradise into the wilderness to follow it's idol.

Many who have "jumped ship" areNOT hoping for more losses to replace the coach, ukwebfan. I am most convinced of that. HOWEVER, I am most afraid that there are some who absolutely fall into that category. I do think some have such an "agenda," and I think many Cat fans here are not seeing that and as they"jump ship,' which is merelynot supporting the coach. By the way, like catmandoo25, I happen to see the coachas PART of the team and program and cannot separate him from the team and program I love. Too, that does not mean that Ido not have any concerns or am happy about all our recruiting classes.

Yes, that some may well want us to lose games to further that causeconcerns me. I cannot understand any Cat fan's pulling for us to lose, period. Yet, yes, I think that hope exists for some, hopefully few. Successfully recruiting Patterson and Lucas would SO HELP this team and PROGRAM. I fear that many are not even seeing that because of an obsession with getting rid of Tubby Smith. That "blindness" is what I'm seeing as I read thread after thread. :(GO CATS!
