There are varying opinions to what this team lacks, who could you insert from the past that would make the biggest impact, would you go for a rebounder, shooter, Center, Leader, or a little of all? Just curious to the opinions, I'll share mine later.

I'm tempted to say Heshimu Evans, because he brought to the floor and imparted on his teammates such energy and focus and hustle every time he entered the game and that seems to be what this year's squad so sorely lacks.
But I am going to go with Scott Padgett because he would bring multiple things this team needs badly: a consistent outside shooter, good consistent rebounding and a good inside presence at forward.

I was thinking along the same lines as far as type of players that would help, maybe even a Mashburn someone who could score, had handles and rebounded, but...wouldnt play due to defense:lol:, but it would have to be someone who made those around him better.

We need a four real bad. I would love to have Rick Robey. Robey and Morris would be a great combination.

one of my all-time favorites, would love to see him against Noah, I would bet there would be a few elbows thrown:ggrin:

Mashburn . . . he could do it all and carry a team on his back when needed.

For a foul I'm looking at Magliore or Gimal Martinez

I would say Chuck Hayse. He brings a desire to win at all cost and a PF threat. Maybe T.Prince for the same reason.
Or to go in another direction maybe Travis Ford or Tony Delk. A PG that can control the game without making the stupid turnover.

Kenny Walker - rebounded, ran the floor, dunked, shot the turnaround, blocked shots. Passed well out of the double team. Scored without trying very hard inside of 10 feet. Played at full speed at all times.

Tayshuan perhaps would help out. But i think we need a Big presence inside. I'm going to go with the history I know and say Chuck or Randy Morris. Recent.... i realize but this team would be an attomatic ccontender if Morris wouldnt have left.
Rick Robey. The Big guy might have been the toughest player to ever put on a kentucky Uniform. Didn't lose a tip off at all during the championship. Was automatic around the basket with either hand. IT was Robey who was the team enforcer and that team had James Lee on it:shock:

Sam Bowie without injuries. He endured so many injuries and therapy sessions and still had a very rich pro career.

We need a guy like Bob Burrow, the much underappreciated All-American from the fifties. A juco transfer, he managed to average about twenty a game and was a rebounding demon. He shares the UK single game rebounding record, having gotten 34 (!) in one game.
Burrow could play center or PF, was a good scorer, and was absolutely relentless. He was the star of the teams that followed the undefeated season on 53-54. After Hagan et. al left, Rupp needed to find someone who could step in right away and lead the team. He found Burrow in Texas. He was on tough hombre....
And also my first "favorite player".
A Dan Issel wouldn't hurt, either....

Jeff, was Burrow athletic enough to play in todays game? I don't go back that far.

last season, I'd say a solid shooter like Tony Delk, but Mash would have helped in ways unimaginable too.
this upcoming season, I'd take Skywalker.
Now if you give me a duo, I'd take Hayes and Daniels. Those guys could read each other's minds.

Hard to say. I was only nine or ten, but I saw him play many times and to my young eyes he was a heckuva player. He wasn't particularly brawny, but he played with a great deal of heart. Players as a whole were not as athletic as they are now, so he probably wouldn't be as effective if he came in with the same skill set and body. But the modern equivalent of Burrow would be a good player to have on our team--a smart player with a nose for the ball and with enough athletic skill to average a bunch. I believe that Burrow may have scored 50 in one game, in addition to big rebound game mentioned above.
The game has changed so much. Even the great Cotton Nash seems slow by today's standards, though the hyper-smooth Nash was sneaky quick.
