View Full Version : The problem is Morris.....

He, I believe, is the problem......I don't care how good he thinks he is, he needs an attitude adjustment (more on how to fix that in a bit).....
When you act like you don't care, look like you don't care, give off the impression that playing the game is a chore.......how is that not contagious?
As much crap as I have given Woo during his tenure, that boy at least gives everything he has. It doesn't take him long to get his mullett soaking wet with sweat and effort. And if you say the rest of the team on the floor doesn't see that or feeds off of that, then you aren't watching the game.
As far as Morris's attitude......here is a quick way to fix it. Tell Reggie Hanson to suit up.....or get Chuck Hayes to come to town.....or better yet, Dan Issel. Any one of those guys would eat his lunch. After that, then look Morris in the eye and ask him how he plans on playing against Shaq, Tim Duncan, Amare Stoudamaire, Kevin Garnett, or *plug in your NBA player".
So I am going to call him out.......he has no heart. No heart at all to be wearing that jersey.
Stay with the freshmen.....get Stevenson some more time.....go with Woo for the reminder of the year, and let's see what happens....

LOL, Hanson would be beaten to death. Issel is a trip to the ER. Those guys are older now, you gotta remember.
But, sarcasm ;)aside, I know exactly what you mean. It would be great to get Morris in practice against guys like those two who knew what it meant to play for this team, and for what that name stands for. He's been here a while now, and I just don't know what it would take to instill it in him now, but he's got a rude awakening coming to him soon, unfortunately....

I thought the kid has his rude awakening on draft day. If that doesn't motivate him, nothing will.

I think Tubby shouldve stayed with that lineup he had a few games back with the bench players starting the game. Also, we are absolutely wasting our freshmen. Stevenson should be starting and Meeks started today and shouldve been for a while.I think Woo should be getting more minutes than Morris. He is just a smarter player.I also believe Perry should be benched, hes had all season to get his shot in gear and only had one good game.

wait a minute, dont becriticizing Hanson. Do you not remember that first Pitino team where he was the CENTER? He had to play against guys that were 70-80lbs bigger than him and 4-5 inches taller, every night for a whole year. He held his own considering the situation.

I think a lineup change is definitely in order.......
That is about the only thing I think Tubby can do to try and salvage his job......what is the worse that can happen, we continue to lose?
Get the freshmen some more minutes Tubby.....

Randolph is the leading scorer on the team and today he had 4 points 1-5 from the field in 23 minutes from a guy I thought earlier in the season could be an All American.

The PROBLEM is already sitting on the bench. Putting Morris there will solve NOTHING>

DUCK! You better be careful or you'll have an admin threaten you with banishment for criticizing Morris.

Morris was out of his game today for a couple of reasons.
1. The early foul always throws him off.
2. He was getting beat up on the inside. The team made lazy passes to him, that even I could pick off.

Ditto...I saw Randolph going hard after boards today, etc....
The problem is this team has no idea how to make a good entry pass.

Amen: and even though I have hesitated to admit it....that problem falls in the lap of the head man. That is what coaching is all about. No doubt he is a good if not great defense coach...but SOMEBODY needs to teach these kids how to pass.

Morrris is lazy and often looks like he does not want to be out there..he better brush up on his Japanese..because overseas is where he will be playing.....He will not go to AN NBA team unless he grows up and changes

Morris does not step to meet a pass coming his way aggressively. How many time today did a defender cut in front of him and at least get a hand on the pass?

This is not about attitude adjustment for Morris. He's just lame. Perhaps he should stop taking Valium before the game.

I honestly thought Randolph got screwed on that first foul and that sort of set the tone for his whole game today......I agree, also, with the above post about people passing him the ball. Several of those passes I could've picked off myself.........Have these players ever heard of a bounce pass into the post????

Geez.....does everybody on here disagree even when we are in agreement that this team is playing awful?
I still lay it on Morris......he was getting the same passes to him that Woo was.....Woo's aggressiveness is the difference. Woo had half the minutes and double the points.
Sure Morris is our leading scorer, but what difference does that make when he is leading us to losses.....
Don't get me wrong, Tubby deserves a lot of the heat too......if not all of it, but eventually the players need to step it up.....especially the guy who thinks he is good enough to go to the NBA last year....

This is possibly one of the Worst statements I believe I have ever heard. Makes no sense.

Morris is defended like a military base by all competant defenses. I think it says a lot about the quality of player he is that he has the kind of results he has.
Is it me ore is there a correlation between the posters who feel "negative"posting hurts recruiting and those who find productive players to blame for our woes?

the problem I see with Morris is Tubby's subbing. Morris is getting double and triple teams and no one else on the court wants to score or can score to take advantage of it.

A huge correlation. It also seems easier to single out a player each year rather than deal with the real root of the problem.

Agreed early in the year after double teams Morris would either pass or make a move quickly. Now he looks for cutters and Bradley and Crawford are not moving. Meeks and Perry are the only ones who don't just stand and watch.

I do wish someone would tell Woo to explain to Morris that the expression"chin to rim"doesnt have dribble in the middle of it.Go STRONG to the hole Morris and things will come a little easier,I think.

I watched the game three times last night. Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment.
I think the biggest problem for Morris yesterday was the fact he was getting double and triple teamed, and had no options out of it, ie cutters. Woo was able to do what he did, because Vandy didn't respect him and didn't double team him. Of course, Woo's constant movement helped him, too. He's constantly moving without the ball, while Morris tends to stand around. Now, I'll give Morris the benifit of the doubt, that he's probably told to post up, and not run around setting screens.
What Tubby needs to realize is that if teams are going to double up Morris, then he should sub in some help for him. Put in another post player, Woo or Stevenson, to give Morris someone to pass to out of the double team, since it's obvious that Bradley, Crawford, and Jasper just aren't going to cut to the basket.

Well, FWIW, I don't think there is such a correlation. Personally, I am most concerned that negativity COULD possibly hurt in the recruitment of Patterson and Lucas. Likewise, I am concerned that negative posting about our players could potentially be hurtful to our recruiting. Of course, I just don't like extreme negativity, period, and especially don't like our "dogging" ourown players. I thought Rajon Rondo was ridiculously blamed for UK's woes last season and to a lesser degree, Patrick Sparks.
I must confess that within a thread today,I untypically posted a negative about a player, though. While I don't like when Tubby takes out players for mistakes, if I had been Tubby I would have setJoe Crawford down when he kept dribbling shakily toward the basket while Jodie was wide open under the basket. The announcer even twice mentioned that and expressed concern.Thatwas the exception, though, and I am not saying thatJoeis a selfish player. That seemed to bea selfish act, though, and I did comment on that, to set the record straight.
For the umpteenth time, though, I wish we would not criticize our players so. Yes, Morris needs to meet passes more aggressively and I wish that he were more aggressive, period, but he most honestly states that he has a problem in not bringing it "night in and night out." KUDOS to Morris for that. It is a TEAM game. Everyone on that TEAM, coach included, has a role in both the victories and the defeats. That's just how I see it. I just don't like having scapegoats, period.
