Outside the ending and looking more into the ‘global’ landscape of UK’s 67-65 loss to Vanderbilt …
1) In a case of ‘better late than never,’ the Wildcats actually received some senior leadership from Bobby Perry and Lucasz Obrzut, just one game shy of senior day. Perry missed just three shots from the floor and scored 18 points and added 6 rebounds, while Woo played out of his mind, scoring 9 points and recording 0 turnovers (shocker).
2) Should UK have won, the game would have looked scarily similar to the Louisville game in December. Like the Cards victory, the Wildcats miraculously stayed in the basketball game despite receiving only 21 points from its heralded junior class of Randolph Morris, Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley, who combined to average 32 minutes of playing time against Vandy.

I guess there is some positive. There is, without a doubt, some talent on this team. The only reality is the scoreboard.

I feel that the game down in Knoxville was absolutely sickening and despite this past weeks result, I still feel that it was ridiculous to get down by 16 to LSU at home, but the Florida game was a well played game and I'm not so sure I can walk away from todays game saying this team sucks, it has no heart, and they got outplayed. The defense seemed to be pretty solid today and I know this sounds like bs but this game struck me as a thats just the way the ball bounces game. I mean out of 100 times, how many times would a free throw shooter make a free throw, miss the second, get his own rebound and score?

I'll answer that question with another question:
How many times do good teams throw the ball away on four consecutive trips down the floor, late in a close game?

Vanderbilt is a pretty formidable opponent and how many possessions today did it take them today to even get a shot? It wasn't late in the game, but they were very lucky to have recovered so fast. As for the Allan Houston shot, I am a HUGE Allan Houston fan but that shot has bad memories in my mind. It is the second moment in Ky basketball history behind the fab five game, but that means you have a 98% chance of the ball going the other way. Still a bad bounce.

When you are determined to allow a possesion to determine the game then "bad bounces" will seem to be more haunting.
We turned over the ball like it was cursed and buttered and played bad D in the 2nd half. Vandy missed lots of open shots.
Lots.
The lone true positive is Jodie Meeks. Honorable mention Crawford didn't implode at being benched, though I think it made him a little extra selfish, especially with Meeks.

Huge positives were the play of Woo, Bobby Perry, and Meeks. The HUGE negative was the turnovers, typically at crunch time, which cost us the game (along with the failure to block out satisfactorily on the missed free throw). Vandy is a good team, especially at their place.Still, we should have won the game.
