Porter wowed by UK experience.

To put it in the vernacular of Michael Porter's home state of California, there have been some minor tremors of late that the Kentucky freshman might be unhappy and considering a transfer.

Porter stopped the quaking in its tracks.

"No, I've never said anything about that or even thought about that. I like it here a lot," Porter said Wednesday following extensive playing time in Kentucky's 82-70 win over Georgia.

The freshman then ensured there would be no aftershocks in the days to come.

"Sometimes I sit back and think, 'Wow, I'm playing for the greatest program in the history of college basketball,'" Porter said. "I try not to let that get to my head because it might affect my play. But when I think about it, it's pretty awesome to be playing here."

I enjoy seeing that Porter believes in the UK tradition.

It's the fan club I started in my signature that convinced him to stay. ;)

I'm actually thrilled with this. Of course, even if he was considering a transfer, he probably wouldn't come out and say it mid-season, but who knows?

He probably wouldn't come out and say it now, but I also don't believe he'd deny it with such vigor if he was thinking about it.

I'm glad I read this story. This puts to rest one of the rumors I'd been hearing. :thumbup

That is the good thing about this freshmen class. . . I think they all realize that they are FRESHMEN, and understand that it may take a while to get where they want to be. Also one of the times, in my opinion, that Tubby's penchant for not pledging playing time to recruits may pay off.

I still believe we will look back at this class as something special.

I agree. Not all incoming players are primadonnas who think they are better than they are. I for one, admire Tubby's honesty reagrding playing time. Porter and Stevenson will stay and this class will be special

I really like Porters play.He is energetic, and moves the ball well. Some may be critical of his turnovers in the Georgia game, but the guy was mugged, and nobody could have orevented a turnover in those circumstances.

I believe Porter would be one of those point guards of old if he gets the playing time. He does have savy and alot of skills. He sees the court really well and just has determination when he plays the game. He lets no one stand in his way when he decides to make a move. Fearless, I like that in a player. He has a pretty good stroke also. Since the first time I seen Porter play he has impressed me. Yeah he has turnovers, but what freshman dosnt. He will make the Cats a solid 1 or 2 and will be someone who will only improve his game. I just hope hes not thinking of leaving even if Tubby goes somewhere else after all the smoke clears.
