View Full Version : We Need Tennessee.....
...... to beat Georgia today.
That would guarantee UK no worse than a 4 seed which would keep us out of Florida's half of the tourney.

Unfortunately, yes.
But I'm going to Atlanta next week. This team ain't gonna beat Florida, so I'm going to root for whatever will give the Cats a shot.

Georgia favored by 3.5 points. This seems a little high to me and I know the Vols have struggled on the road. Tennessee has looked very good of late.

On the other hand, though, if we win tomorrow, we'd be tied for 2nd in arguably the toughest conference division in college basketball.

Only if the truth is rhetorically manipulated.
"4 seed" could also be stated this way: "Tied for second place."

How can anyone root for Tennessee, Duke, UL, UNC or IU regardless of the matchups? We're in the dance already or if SOS means anything anymore.
On a different note, Seth Davis only picked 4 SEC teams in the show while picking 7 each from the ACC and Big East.
Nah! He doesn't show any partiality for a '92 Duke grad.

Because I don't want to drive all the way to Atlanta to watch this team get destroyed by Florida on the second day of the tournament.
And Davis might be right.
UT, UK, UF, Vandy.
Alabama's on the bubble. Georgia, at this point, is out.

You're right. Why did they even travel to Gainesville today? Getting killed on a neutral court is bad enough already.

I agree. Playing Florida in the second game spells trouble imo. I would rather face them on Saturday or Sunday. If UK can avoid Florida early, the chances of getting a higher seed in the dance increases.
The ACC will get 7 and I think the SEC will get 5 unless there alot of upsets in the conference tourney. The Big East will get 6 or 7 teams in.
Its amazing that no SEC West teams are a lock.

The West winner should get in unless they flame-out in Atlanta.
Ga. Tech is below .500 in the ACC so they're questionable.
The Big East could get 9 in realistically.

ukwebfan wrote: The West winner should get in unless they flame-out in Atlanta.
Why?
You're talking about teams who went .500 in conference play. Only one, Alabama, will have 20 regular season wins.
I don't feel like any of those teams is really NCAA-worthy.
IMO Georgia has done more than any of the teams in the West.

That's pro-active coaching (Pearl) versus re-active coaching (Tubby).
And it's also indicative of how important the three point shot is. If you knock down a three in the clutch, the other guys tighten up. (I'm not too comfortable with the words "clutch" and "tighten" so close together. But I'm too lazy to think of synonyms right now.)

No kidding! Who wants to play the #1 seed early? You need to look at percentages and I think Florida would beat UK 75-80% of the time based on their play this year. Sure UK can beat them but they haven't proven that in five straight tries.
In Catlanta, I believe anything can happen.

If Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn are all tied at 7-9...........
Arkansas and Auburn both swept Alabama and split their season series.
Arkansas would earn the West No. 3 seed due to their 6-4 division record compared to Auburn's 4-6 mark.
Auburn would be the West No. 4 seed and Alabama the West No. 5 seed
If Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi State are all tied at 7-9...........
Mississippi State would earn the West No. 3 seed due to their 3-1 head-to-head record compared to Arkansas (2-2) and Auburn (1-3).
Arkansas would be the West No. 4 seed and Auburn the West No. 5 seed
So basically, if Alabama wins, we'll play Auburn, but if MSU wins, we'll play Alabama.
We would play the 1st seed in the west in the second round, which will be either MSU (if they beat Bama) or Ole Miss.

I want Alabama to beat Mississippi State... That gives us Auburn then Ole Miss as opposed to Alabama then Mississippi State. Auburn we beat at home, Ole Miss we beat on the road, Alabama we lost to on the road, Mississippi State we beat at home.
