ORLANDO – The University of Kentucky cheerleaders continued it’s dominance at the Universal Cheer Association National Championships by winning their record 15th title, the third in a row, Sunday at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.

The team earned an automatic bid to the finals of the competition by tying for first in the South Regional based on a tape submitted to the UCA last fall.

The Southeastern Conference was represented by five teams in the 19-team finals. Tennessee finished second while Alabama took home third place. LSU came in sixth and Mississippi State was 15th.

The Wildcat finished sixth in the mascot portion of the championships.

Kentucky has cleaned up at the cheerleading competition, winning championships in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

I know this isn't basketball but our basketball board could use some positive news. Even if it isn't basketball. Way to go Cheerleader's.

Maybe they will do their Championship Saturday in Rupp. I remember they did it last year. Congrats cheerleaders. The squad Saturday did a great job, but I missed the giant white flag with the Big Blue K when they did the paramid with the Cat on top second half on Saturday.

This is great and continues a great tradition.

Apparently in cheerleader competition the SEC is a great as it is in women's basketball and football. Tennessee finished 2nd and Alabama 3rd, with LSU 6th and Mississippi State 15th.
