Random question about former MOPs

So I was browsing Wikipedia's page about former NCAA Tournment Most Outstanding Players (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Basketball_Tournament_Most_Outstanding_Player ), and I noticed there was no MOP named in 1951 (UK's 3rd title). Does anyone know why?

There apparently wasn't a MOP selected that year, but as to why I have no idea. Very good question, though.

Another interesting fact about those times was that there were really just two regions and there was not a Final Four as we know it today. In the national semi-finals, or the regional finals that year, Kansas State beat Oklahoma A&M in New York while Kentucky beat Illinois in Kansas City. The Championship game between UK and Kansas State was played in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
