I cannot recall a smaller overall crowd at a UK game in my lifetime. Can anyone else recall one smaller?
I'm pulling for the Wildcats to win!
But it is a very sad state of Kentucky Basketball to see a crowd like that. Kudos to all in our Big Blue Nation thatare there representing us! :thumbup
I'll be up there with ya'll soon as I can get the heck out of dodge.
I thought our section looked pretty full. Great to see UK fans representing and pulling for the boys in blue.

Yeah, our section looked full to me. Isn't the Georgia Dome a football stadium? No way you fill that thing up for a basketball game on Thursday afternoon. I thought our fans represented pretty well.

The crowd looks pretty good. I wonder how many UK fans only planned on coming in on Friday thinking that we would get a bye? If we keep winning, our crowd numbers will be just fine.

Harder for some folks to get away on Thursday. I wish I could be there too. Y'all have fun and yell really loud some for me too....:D

I have just been to games for the SEC Tournament at the Georgia Dome 2 years before this one. Our section is indeed full, but look at the whole crowd! It's not nearly as full as other UK games at the SEC tournament in the Georgia Dome.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but since UK generally has played the later games, the other crowds are already there to begin with, so they probably stayed. Since we're the very first game, those fans of other teams probably don't see a need to come out to watch us play.

I think everyone is making good points here and I do believe they are valid.
But I still don't think I've ever seen more empty seats at a UK game. Whatever the reason for what we see, it's still sadanyway you look at it I guess.

It seats >70,000, I think that's got to be part of it.

Agree CC,
The Dome is usually BLUE for our games.
Yes, we usually play on Friday, but UK fans have
always traveled well with the team and found
a way to get a ticket.
I see lots of empty blue seats.

Nobody will fill the GA Dome at 1:00 on Thursday.

Yes, it does seat that many, but they don't sell the third level for the tourney games. I think the ticket capacity for the SEC is about 28,000. The crowd was down today. Many people just cannot get away for an opening game on Thursday. Face it, this is another "first" for Kentucky; they have never played the opening game of the tourney. Hopefully, we will never have to again:X

There may be some diminished fan interest, but I think today was mainly due to the game being played at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. On TV, it looked like a pretty good UK crowd, all things considered.
