As Ronald Steele goes, so goes Alabama. Steele has been hurt all season.

Having said that, however, I have never been impressed with Gottfried's coaching ability. He does very little of anything during the game except to chew his fingernails. If the state of Alabama did not have bunches of great athletes, he would be lost. What decent players has he ever recruited out of state other than Alonzo Gee?

The truth is that Gottfried has lost out on a lot of the instate talent in Alabama. He has more transfers than Tubby, mostly over playing time. He refuses to play his bench (kind of reminds me of coach k). He will not be fired this year, but the fire is going to be turned up from here on out.

Ronald Steele's brother is a junior and is better than him. He has Alabama at the top of his list so if Gottfried can hold out another year, he'll have another Steele running the show.
