Why is the ACC on ESPN, the Big Least on ESPN2 both in wonderful High Definition and the SEC is on sucky Liberty Financial Television in pathetic picture quality? Can we not get a real contract? I was hoping when they got rid of JP and got a new deal they would get a better contract.

I know we are mostly known as a football conference, but we are not a bad basketball conference. The SEC has the all-time winningest team in college history. The SEC won the NCAA championship justlast year. Numerous teams in the final four in the past 20 years. I just don't see how we don't get a better TV contract for the tourney.

TV contracts and bought years in advance. Once they're done there's nothing we can do about it.

ESPN has always been pro-ACC and likely always will be.

Anyone know when the current contract is up?

The announcers are actually pretty good across the board, but the production quality is really behind the times.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the changing from Jefferson Pilot to Lincoln Financial was just about those companies merging (or LF buying out JP, or something like that). The TV coverage is exactly the same in terms of announcers, number of games, affiliates, graphics, etc.

But I do think it sucks that the SEC is the only one of the six major conferences that's not on national TV (well, the Pac-10 is on FSN if the local FSN affiliate isn't showing its own game) until its championship game.

The SEC TV situation is very poor. They are the only major conference I can't see without buying Full Court. I watched parts of games last night from the Big East,Big Ten,ACC,Conference USA,A-10,PAC-10,Big 12and even the MAC. But no SEC to be found. I was blacked outon FSS. They should be ashamed not to have their games on some sports network that is not blacked out. BTW the black out should be lifted. It's like they are trying to keep games off the air to everyone. It's no wonder the SEC isn't a top three conference when potential recruits can't see the games unless they are in the south. At the very least they should hook up with CSTV and put their games on that network. I'm sure they would rather show SEC than Conference USA.

I like the announcers for the SEC games and have grown to really like and enjoy Barry Booker. He is ex-Vandy but a true SEC homer. He calls the games fairly and always always gives us our props. He can stay until he is old and gray as far as I am concerned. Other than that I feel you guys pain about the quality of the broadcast and the lack of a bigtime contract with a major player to telecast it.

Well the Big East has all those big cities, and the media knows that. Auburn vs Philadelphia, Tuscaloosa vs New York City, Lexington vs Washington DC.

As for the ACC, it's all about Duke and UNC, baybee.

I want to also thank Mr. Slive for switching to XM, and giving all the loyal SEC fans who went out and got Sirius so much notice that they were going to switch. Thanks.

My personel opinion is that the SEC is not run by people with great business acumen and it is still at heart only concerned with Football. You'd think they look at Fox HD.

BTW HD does make these games look sooooo much better.
