Anybody see Paulus just shove the NC State player to the ground under that basket on that last play. Refs really swallow the whistle at the end of games.
Just like not calling Sosa's walk at the end of the UL game.

DUKE is the most overrated joke of a basketball team this year. I bet we could win the SEC tournament and DUKE would still get a higher seed than us.

I'm glad they lost, but the aggravating thing is I'd be willing to bet they still make the NCAA's and they still get to play in Greensboro in the first round of games.
Anyway, the aura of superiority they like to think is around them is gettin' really dim right now.

I know it's wishful thinking, but could it possibly happen that Duke misses the Tourney?!? Let's go Bubble Teams!!!
Coach Crybaby will probably pitch a hissyfit if they have to play in St Pete again. Wasn't it there that the Cats extracted revenge and exorcised the devil in '98? It couldn't have happened to a more deserving dirtbag.

not to mention McRoberts shoving the NC State player on the rebound attempt at the end of regulation. McRoberts lock his arm around an NC State player which allowed Paulus to drive uncontested to the basket and the ESPN taking heads think that he deserves an assist on the illegal screen.
McRoberts also committed his fifth foul on a play under the NC State basket in OT, but they gave the foul to Paulus who was standing at the free throw line.
ACC refs are either incompetent or on the take. Since Lighthouse says that is never the case, I guess their just incompetent.

I'm glad someone else noticed that because that was an AWFUL no call by the refs that could have potentially ruined the game. NC State guy was wide open right under the basket and Paulus just mauled him.

By the way, is there any player in college basketball who blames his teammates more for his mistakes than McRoberts? Every time anything goes wrong, he bitches them out. Every time anything goes wrong and it's clearly his fault, he bitches them out louder.

key word "should". I know that and you know that, but unfortunately our opinions really don't matter. The commitee will give them a 3-5 seed, which they don't deserve, and they will cry because they didn't get a 1 or 2 and a bye for the first weekend. Lol, just kidding about the bye, but even though they don't give byes, the Dukies, Duke Vitale, and Billy "Blue Devil" Packer probably still think they should get one.
Well, this should solidify Duke as a 3 or 4 seed.

How sick is it that I found more pleasure in Duke's loss than in UK's win???

In all seriousness, I think dUKe is looking at a 6 seed.
and FWIW, I think UL is a 5 seed if they win tomorrow, 6 if they lose.
I think the Cats are a 8 seed right now, 7 if they win tomorrow.
If UL wins the BE Tourney they get a 4 seed.
If UK wins 2 more they get a 6 seed, if they win the SEC Tourney they get a 5 seed.

Duke went 8-8 in the ACC in the regular season, got the #7 seed, and lost in the first round of the conference tournament. They do have a good RPI (#14)and SOS rating (#2), but I think anyone else from a major conference with a .500 conference record and a first round conference tournament exit would be considered a bubble team.
Not that this means much, but here are otherteams from major conferences that went .500 in their conference.
Georgia Tech
Providence
Michigan State
Michigan
Georgia
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Almost all of those teams would be considered bubble teams at this point and probably need one or two conference tournament wins to get in. Duke will likely get somewhere between a6-8 seed.
On a semi-related matter, I don't really understand how the SEC is only going to get 4 (maybe 5) teams in the NCAAs despite having the best conference RPI rating.

why aren't they a bubble team..they now have a losing record in the conference and the ACC is not that good? They are going to get 8 teams in just so they can justify getting Dook in??? what a fricken joke.

The announcers on this game went on and on about Duke's "short bench". I thought they recruited anybody they want?

Coach Ratzyzewski blames loss onthe networkfor making them play on the Deuce instead of top billing on ESPN, ACC officials for unfairly holding the tournament outside of Charlotte or Winston-Salem (demands all 1st round games be played @ Cameron in 2008-2011), and Tyler Hansborough for faking a broken nose to get an innocent Dukie suspendedknowing that there is no way his Charmin-like players could do that much physical harm to an opponent. Also says that a 4-seed by the committee would be inexcusable, should be a 2 or a 3 seed based on the number of games they've played on national TV this year.
Stretch wrote: The announcers on this game went on and on about Duke's "short bench". I thought they recruited anybody they want?
Duke gets more McD AA than anyone, but they rarely are a deep team because Coach K only plays 6-7 guys. People don't want to come sit on the bench and never get in the game. Anytime Duke is a little down they talk about their short bench, but I can't remember a single Duke team that didn't have a short bench, even the very good ones. The difference is their starting five aren't that good. McRoberts and Paulus are simply not living up to their hype. McRoberts is pillowy soft and Paulus simply gets abused by athletic guards. Coach K doesn't really recruit role players, so he has no backups to go to at this point. He only recruits elite recruits, but not that many of them, so if they don't work out he ussually has a hole in his team. Currently it is a several glaring holes. They suck.

Duke will be in tourney but I agree they should be a bubble team. How they are ranked in the top 25 isa joke.
There big win is that they blew out Georgetown the Big East Champion. That will ultimately be the main victory to get them in. Air Force and Gonzaga carries some weight as well.
Duke should be a 8-10 seed, they will get a 5-7 seed.
Anyone that says that the ACC is not a good conference hasn't watched the teams play. The conference is not top heavy but it is a very solid conference. Thats why they kick the Big Ten's *** every year. And FWIW, I hate the ACC more than any conference.

Few things in NCAA bball are better than Duque losing. Seeing their whining, crying, pleading for favors players like McBob, Paulus, coach Kyzxvzxzvxyxvzski, and others throwing tantrums like little babies during a loss makes for fun viewing. They really get testy when things don't go their way, don't they?
