There is a convention for Ventriloquists each year.
Guess where. Kentucky. More specifically that area we call Northern Kentucky. Not sure exactly where.
Also not entirely sure if it is a National or International convention, just know there is one.
Also, Louisville is the host to a nice convention every few years. Society of American Magicians. In 2008, there will be a first happening in Lousiville. The SAM and the International Brotherhood of Magicians will be combining their annual conventions. It has not happened in the roughly 80 years of existence of both. The combined convention will be in Louisville in June or July cant remember which.
Copperfield, Blaine, Chris Angel, Mac King, Lance Burton, Amazing Johnathan, Sigfried and Roy, Mark Wilson, on and on will probably at least attend. It is very expensive for members and even more so for non-members. However, to see some of the talent present and performing or conducting impromptu seminars....
Imagine learning tips for presentation of card tricks from Blaine just because he is bored....
