Kentucky's night got off to a rough start even before tipoff, thanks to a mixup on the lineup card.
The eighth-seeded Wildcats were forced to start little-used reserve Dwight Perry in their first-round game against Villanova last night in Chicago, then burn a foul immediately, because an assistant coach had filled the lineup out incorrectly. An incorrect starting lineup is an automatic technical foul.
Kentucky coach Tubby Smith argued with officials for several minutes before tipoff that the mix-up was simply a mistake, to no avail. He was told to either start Dwight Perry or take the technical.
