Clark did say that he thought the game was going to be close.

They also discussed Tubby's situation. Both said they thought Tubby would be here next year. Kellogg said that he didn't understand why they were even discussing Smith's future.

When Clark started listing Tubby's coaching attirubtes, of course, "class" was the first word he used...

Class recognizes class.

Clark Kellogg and Jay Bilas are alone at the top.

Davis, Gottlieb, Vitale, Phelps all flop around in a sea of agendas.

I agree with that.

Kellogg is the best. Not "one of" the best, but the absolute best.

I don't believe, however, that "class" should be the ammunition a person uses every time Tubby's name comes up.

Picking KU is easy. If they had guts one of them would find a way for KY to win and pick the Cats.

They say the same thing about Dean Smith, Coach K, Billy Donovan and Roy Williams.

Half of the fans on this site hate one or more of those coaches.

I agree with you on Bilas but disagree about Vitale. I think Dick Vitale is a classy guy. He may not say the things UK fans want him to say, and he may lean towards the ACC at times, but his love for the sport is just as great as anyone out there. He does lots of charity work and always promotes hard work and determination. Bottom line, in my opinion, is that Dick Vitale is a great ambassador for the game of college basketball.

Gottlieb is like a little kid, Phelps does nothing if you aren't a Notre Dame fan. Clark Kellogg is okay I guess. Just not "at the top".

But hey, they have different kids of people on there for all different kinds of audiences.

I agree on Vitale, even though I think his voice and mannerisms are annoying as hell. I usually turn him off if I can. But, I do agree that he truly loves college basketball and is a great ambassador for the game.

Unlike many posters here, Clark isn't in debate mode so why is that "ammunition"?!?:thumbdown

To him, that's Tubby's most obvious quality. I don't have a problem with it.

Not sure why so many take offense when the word CLASS and Tubby is spoken by media pundits, but whatever.

The real issue is this...

While 32 schools and their fans are getting fired up, praying to the baskeball patron saints and burning ashes in their yards for victories...UK fans and media members are talking about nothing but getting rid of the coach or why he should stay.

Pretty pitiful situation we are in and one nobody should be happy about.

Tubby will be back next year, so I've decided not to comment anymore on that situation. I don't think I'm real happy about it, but it is what it is.

Now let's focus our discussions on what Tubby is going to have to do between now and next year to get this program headed back in the right direction.

I like all the guys in question, but the thing that bugs me is that before the UK/Vill game they were all "oh, UK's not gonna win this. Villanova is a great team." Then when UK wins, all they can say is "Oh, Villanova is a flawed team. They're best guy was hurt. They're not that good."

I agree as well. I know Tubby is going to be back next year so we might as well give him our full support just like we do the players and the UK team.

Tubby is our guy for now, he is going to be given another year so I will give him one as well. We need to unite and hope we can turn things around next season.

I'm with you Bob, I think we can beat the chickens if we play them like we played Nova. I am really proud of their effort against them. Kansas runs the floor and are very fast, so we need to be able to match their speed, and try to get inside to Randolph as much as possible. Also, if we double up on their best players that will give us a good chance of winning. We need to defend the three point plays a little better, and take better care of the basketball. All of our guys need to bring their best game with them if we beat KU. Stay focused and not be careless with the ball. It is going to take a very good team effort to pull this one off, but, I have confidence in the boys that they can do it. Go Cats!! beat them chickens!! let's have chicken and dumplings for supper, ok?

Well-said, along with KennesawCat's post, and credit for saying so goes to all of you, as I see it.Also, to me, there's simply no other option. Too, if Tubby does decide to leave (and that could be his decision, if he is forced to get rid of some assistants), I will likewise give that coach my full support, along with the UK players. For the umpteenth time, I honestly see no other option as a UK fan.

In regard to the discussion about commentators, I have the utmost respect for Jay Bilas and Clark Kellogg. Add me to those who also respect Dick Vitale for his class and love for the game and the student-athletes, although he can surely get on my nerves. Like some others here, I see "agenda" in some comments by announcers such as Doug Gottlieb, Seth Davis, Billy Packer, and Digger Phelps (although to a lesser degree for Phelps, lately). I like to feel that the commentatorsare looking at the situation objectively and fairly, and I think the first three I mentioned essentially do that, without the "digs," for which I respect them. GO CATS!!!

That last statement makes we wonder about something, BH.Could you possibly be simplyTHINKING that"half of the fans on this siteHATE one or more of those coaches"? Isincerely say (or ask)that because some posters have repeatedly accused you hereof HATING Tubby when that isNOT the case. So it seems that it could likewise NOT be the case for all the fans of which you speak. Sometimes our perceptions are not reality.

Of course, it's true that those rival coaches are not going to be LOVED by most Cat fans. To me, that seems a natural reaction for Cat fans to have. I hope the feelings don't approach HATRED, though. Anyway, that post just caught my attention because of the use of that strong word, "hate." You yourself know that people's statements can be misinterpreted. Perhaps SOME do hate some of those coaches, but I doubt it's such a strong reaction for most, but more about feelings associated with rivalries.

You know, though, your mentioning Roy Williams rings a bell for me, though. I have thought and thought about fans' wanting Tubby to be fired. Mr. Poodoo, who certainly does not want Tubby to be fired, does become frustrated more easily than I do. Anyway, I asked him if he could name one coach whom he wouldLIKE to see replace Tubby, while also KNOWING that the guy would likely come here AND be more successful than Tubby Smith. His answer was "NO ONE." Ironically, Roy Williams, particularly because of his ability to recruit AND his style of play, would be one who I think would be MOST successful at UK. Obviously, Roy Williams would NOT make the move. I just had to throw that out there, as it came to my mind when you had named him. :)

Now, though, back to the names of the announcers, let's just BEAT KANSAS and start hearing some excuses about their predictions' being wrong THIS time! :lol:Surely no onewould havea problem with that! :)GO CATS!!!

When this season is done and tubby resigns, I would have no problem with anyone saying that he resigned with class.
