It would not surprise me at all if they want to talk to Tubby.

It's about time.

Stan Heath should be next IMO. Hog fans were probably hurt by the hogs sliding into the tourney and then bouncing out quickly.

Another former Dookie bites the dust. Snyder and Amaker both got big-time jobs, largely because of their Dook ties, but neither stuck. At least Amaker didn't cheat...

Arkansas hiring Stan Heath is the equivalent of what some folks are calling for here, hiring Anthony Grant of VCU to coach UK. Heath coached Kent State to an Elite Eight in 2002 in his first season there and was grabbed up by Arkansas. He didn't have much of a track record except being Izzo's assistant at MSU. They essentially hired an assistant coach.

I just figured he was someone Arkansas was considering even before Heath was hired at Kent State.

Unless Michigan's goal is NIT's, I never understood the Amaker hire at Michigan. He hadmade the NCAAtournament once while at Seton Hall, but he took them to the NIT three (I think it was 3) times.

ESPN's, Bob Valvano said this morning that Tubby might be one that they want to replace TA.

Where's the connection? Just because he's embattled here?

Tubby has lived his whole life in the South and there is no way he will choose Michigan over UK, especially now that he has his state-of- the-art practice facility and Michigan's facilities are not in the same league as ours.

I work with an Ark graduate and the fanbase is just as splintered as Ky's if not more. They never should have gotten in the NCAA..it was not warranted.

No connection other than some think Tubby would be a better fit in the Big 10. UM has to hit a homerun with this hire and my speculation is that they will go after a named coach. Tubby would fit that definition and who knows maybe Tubby is tired of the crap he has to put up here? I think he'l be on the short list, but have no idea whether or not he is interested. It would be a huge pay cut and as someone else said, Tubby is from the south.

From an espn.com story:
Katz also reported that Kentucky coach Tubby Smith could be a candidate, if he's available.

I don't know if anyone else is reacting the same as I'm reacting. My reaction is thatsuch speculation about Tubby's potentially being acandidate for the Michigan job COULD be a distraction to the teamtoday.Naturally, I don't want that to be the case. Hopefully there's not much discussion about thesenational articles that it is reaching the UK players' ears. I want these guys tobe focused on ONEthing AND for FORTY minutes. :)GO CATS!!!

I thought Pitino would look into the Michigan job when he took the UfoL job- they were both open at the time.

Michigan is a big school, Big-10, can recruit good players, you can go 21-10 there and have an occasioanl Elite 8 run and have little pressure- you listening Tubby?
