Churchill Downs to host The Police this summer

Business First of Louisville - 9:10 AM EDT Monday, March 19, 2007
Less than a year after the Rolling Stones played Churchill Downs (http://www.bizjournals.com/search/bin/search?q=%22Churchill%20Downs%22&t=louisville), another major rock band, The Police, will take the stage at the historic racetrack on Saturday, July 14.

The band, which was one of the reigning rock groups of the 1970s and 1980s, recently reunited and launched an international tour.

Tickets for the Churchill Downs concert go on sale on Monday, March 26, at 10 a.m. Tickets will be priced at $225, $90 and $50. Seating will be available in portions of the track's grandstand and clubhouse areas, and there will be limited seating around the concert stage, which will be located in the infield, facing the grandstand.

Tickets will be available at all Ticketmaster locations, http://www.ticketmaster.com (http://www.ticketmaster.com/) and http://www.livenation.com (http://www.livenation.com/). Tickets will not be sold through Churchill Downs. There is a limit of six tickets per customer.

For complete tour information, visit http://www.thepolicetour.com (http://www.thepolicetour.com/).

Thanks for the links.

I went to the Police Tour site and noticed that the opening act is called the Fiction Plane. Interesting to note, and it may be purely coincidence, that the bass guitarist's name is Joe Sumner.

Why do you think I find thisto beinteresting?

I just got my 6 tickets in the mail last night.......

Nobody answered my question about Joe Sumner.....

My suspicion is that he has some family relationship to Sting...who is Gordon Sumner.

Anybody know the answer? Coincidence?

According to Wikipedia, Joe is indeed Sting's son. Man I feel old now.

Ah ha....nepotism. :) With the last name of Sumner I knew something "fishy" had to be going on. It will be interesting to see how much of his fathers genes were passed on to him. For one thing,if I were his agent I have his name changed to"Buzz."
