I own 2 MP3 players, sure they're not the best on the market, but they do what I need them for and that's music. Since I have owned my players, I haven't had the urge to buy CD's, and really why should I? I believe that MP3 playersand ipods, will be to CD's, what CD's and cassettes were to albums and 45's. I have decided that i need another player, my only problem is deciding whether to go all out and get an ipod or another MP3 player.
I started this thread for two reasons:
1. To ask advice on ipod players, I need a somewhat reasonable price. I don't need or want to watch videos or TV shows (that's what TV is for). I just want it for music. And:
2. to discuss what kind of impact will MP3 players and ipods (if any) will have on CD sales in the future?
Have at it WCN.

Delk, I bought my wife a 1 gig Nano IPOD for Christmas It will hold 500 songs and the music quality is excellent. You can listen on headphones or there are several ways of connecting them to a stereo system. When you get the IPOD, you will need to join I-Tunes, which is the online site where you download your songs. There is a cost involved for downloading the songs, but it's pretty minimal.
I bought her the IPOD, a stereo boombox that she can plug the IPOD into and listen, and a 30 dollar I-Tunes gift card. The whole thing came to $395.00
Hope that helps.

I just bought the 30 gig ipod video and I love it.I don'tthink I'll use it for video very often. I went with this model for the storage capacity. I could have bought the 8 gig nano for the same money, it does music+pics. I just wanted the extra space. As I said, I am extremely happy with it so far. Ihaven't had time to actually use a lot of the features, but I am working on it.

I've got a 2GB sandisk. I love it. It holds about 400 songs. I bought speakers for it, some good earphones and spent less than 50 bucks. If you don't want the video then I recommend a sandisk. I've not hadany problem with mine. The battery seems to last forever.

I also have a 2 gig Sandisk. I bought mine for $70 and got a good deal because it was refurbished.
No problems so far. I think it was tigerdirect.com.
I have a 30 GB ipod. I have rarely used the video (eats battery life), but I like knowing I will more than likely never run out of musicspace.
