Any chance he would bolt? I doubt it but wonder if Mitch would just ask him.
Sorry, Ben Howland.

Lord, I hope not. He does seem to be a good coach, but there is just something about that guy that I really don't like:shrug:

Sorry, Ben Howland.
Why would he come here? UCLA has better weather, more championships and less pressure.

He is a California guy. He is home. Besides the UK fans would hate his style.

He's home, he's been practically adopted by John Wooden and everyone else out there, he is perceived as being only one since Wooden capable of restoring semblance to the UCLA dynasty in the manner Wooden would have and his team is in the final four. He is indeed living a dream.
You might as well ask Deputy Dawg Williams to leave UNC for UK.:)

Howland grew up a UCLA fan. He's Roy Williams of UCLA.

I'd like to have him, but I agree, he's likely not leaving. Probably a thorn in our side for years to come.

If everybody mentioned is in your opinion "why would he come here?" then I have a question for you. Why are you a UK fan?:questionYes UCLA does have better weather but we are NOT exactly Siberia. Yes UCLA does have more championships but only by four. Not sure about the pressure but UCLA is right in the middle of a lot of other schools like Stanford and USC so again you are probably right.
Rockober you are great about pointing out UK negatives. Why don't you point out a few positives for us. I would really like to know if you see nothing but negatives why would you be a UK fan? I am not trying to be negative myself but I really am just trying to figure out what you see as positive about UK?

StuCat you are way off based here. I am not going to defend myself. Check my posts! I am Positive that UK will get back on track quickly but Ben Howland has absolutely no reason to come here. UK, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, and Duke are the Elite teams in basketball. He coaches one and is inhis second straight Final Four. Why start over when there is more pressure at other places?
StuCat you are way wrong on me being negative on UK all the time. You may not like my answer and I really don't give a flip what you think (wow I am being negative again:rolleyes:)

Less pressure? Go ask the myriad of coaches who tried to follow Wooden and the constant comparisons...
Hey there is less pressure at UCLA than UK. And don't get me wrong, winning at UCLA carries a lot of pressue but not as much as in Kentucky.
In Kentucky there are no professional team sports and in LA you have tons of professional sports. UK basketball is here for 365 days a year and holds the most pressure. I have lived in the Carolinas and I used to stay in California a few months every year.I know the pressures that Duke,UNC and UCLA carry. I honestly don't know about Kansas first hand.
Sure, following a legend like Rupp, Wooden, and Dean Smith-well we have seen coaches fail at all three. Theres more pressure following legends. Duke will encounter this when Coach K leaves.
I believe UK is the most pressured job in the country because of the insanity that goes on in this state about hoops. I also believe that is why it makes this such a special place! The passion for the game of basketball in this state along with the fan support and insanity make this a special place.
