LEXINGTON - New Kentucky secondary coach David Lockwood can't wait for the Wildcats to start spring practice Wednesday so he can finally see his players on the football field.

However, Lockwood already knows making the move to Kentucky was the right one for him because of the reception he's received.

"The more people I meet here, the more it makes me know how much I want to be here. They all make you feel welcome," said Lockwood, the former defensive coordinator at Minnesota. "When I walked in the back door of our building, my name was already on the office door. That makes you feel like you are wanted here. It has been a grand experience for me."

Kind of interesting...I forgot that we got Lockwood from the school that just hired our basketball coach.

Minnesota and UK have had a bit of a coaching pipeline. I don't want to mention who else we got from there, but it was a mean *** coordinator.

If we're thinking of the same person, you have that backwards. Eliot Uzelac, after two disastrous years as UK's offensive coordinator under Curry (1995-1996), was hired in the same capacity at Minnesota for 1997.

He lasted there one year.

Uzelac had been offensive coordinator at Colorado in the two years before coming to Kentucky.

UK quarterback Ryan - I forget his last name now - transferred from UK to Minnesota, I think following Uzelac there, and eventually took the field as a WR there. He was third string behind Couch and Haskins in 1996 and did not fit Mumme's mold at all as he was an option QB. I don't know why I cannot recall his last name now.

Did Ryan's last name start with an "H?"

Haskins = Great UK QB/Folk Hero

Haskins = Cheating Minnesota Basketball Coach

That is it. I don't know why I could not recall it earlier.

Ryan Keller was at UK as a QB his freshman season, redshirted, then transferred to Minnesota and played WR there, getting some decent playing time.

You'd win a year's supply of Turtle Wax and the play-at-home board game if we were on TV, jwade.
