We saw BB King last night at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville. He played before a 90% full house that was in great expectation of seeing the King live on stage. BB did not disappoint. His playing and vocals were amazingly tight foran 81-year-old blues man. He sat front and center the entire night and had his full band including a rowdy horn section that brought in a big sound.

His storytelling mixed in with his music was a treat, each story led to some music and the music always led to another story. His work on ‘Blues Man’ was the highlight of the show.

As I heard someone say, if you ever wanted to see BB you better hurry up, the man is 81 years old and he is still vibrant. His age has slowed him a little, but he was simply amazing. Also, he had his girlfriend. Lucille with him and she sounded great. She sat in his lap the entire show andhe gave her a big kiss at nights end.

I’ll add, a very talented singer warmed him up, LeRoy Bell from Seattle, great vocals, and great guitar, with all original music. We were able to talk to him after the show and suggested he try and get booked somewhere in Louisville for Derby week, if he does it’s a show I’ll defiantly see.

Check out LeRoy Bell:
