I have that feeling that the hire might make us gasp.:nada: Regardless, I will support the new guy ... until it becomes apparent that he sucks.

I've been wrong about most of my gut feelings regarding sports lately, so I voted lukewarm. Maybe that is all that was needed for the home-run hire!

I think we can say, without exaggeration, that this is the single most important hire that Mitch Barnhart will make in his entire career. He's been at UK long enough to know what the expectations are. The man isn't stupid. He knows that this hire will not only make or breakthe basketball team, it will pretty much set the tone for the rest of his career, as well.

Maybe I'm crazy, but my gut feeling is he'll knock it out of the park.

If he does not get Billy D's sig on the dotted line, he should be fired. No ifs, ands or buts.

If he gets Billy D, then he will move toward the top of the AD's in the NCAA and I will become an instantMB fan.

Fired? LOL. I'm sure it will be a fierce battle, but in the end, if Billy wants to stay in Florida, nothing MB can do about it. I mean, who wouldn't want to be around Noah for another year (if he stayed).

Oh, and did anyone see BD's new recruit at the McD's AA game? He had like 20 something points on the three point challenge, ouch.

Calathes says he doesn't know if he'd stay committed to Gators if Donovan leaves

Thanks for that Mountain, if somehow we got blessed with BD as our next leader, be kind of nice to have him tag along to KY eh?

Kind of goes to show us, whomever we hire, there is a good chance they might bring some talent with them.

Exactly.

We are UK, the stars are aligned and MB's job is in a precarious position if he doesn't seal the deal that looks like a blockbuster for UK.

He will either be the hero of the goat in a few days.

Look at his past hires in other sports with this university and tell me if he has done a good job. I can't say he should be fired if doesn't get Billy. If BD stays at UF who could really fault him? Yes it would be discouraging if he stayed but hey we would still get a QUALITY coach.

Yes he has done a good job with the garnish, but if he screws up the entree does it really matter about the garnishes?

I believe he will and is doing the best he can up tp this point. UK should be able to sell itself without help but like I said IF BD stays at UF who could really blame him? There are alot of great coaches out there coaching lower level schools just waitng for the opportunity to get the job of a lifetime and actually could be a dominate coach at a dominate school.

Let me say that yes I want BD first and foremost but what happens if we get him and he has great success early and often what is his next stop? I think ultimately he ends up in the NBA somewhere(bad choice)down the road and then in a few years we are looking for another coach. Would we rather take a good coach that would stay for a LONG time and be successful after a couple of years and dominate for a long time or do we take BD who dominates early and then leaves? Just a thought......

UF vs UK is no comparison. UK is clearly at a level that UF will never reach. UF is competitive now because of Billy D, not because they are UF.

UK OTOH will always be UK and we are the premier program among a select few who are at the pinnacle of basketball. Leaving UK or UNC to go to the NBA is not a step up, IMO. Any other school, maybe it is; but not those two.

Billy will come because he has earned the right to be here. We have said in the past that he is not ready. Well, now he is ready.

I agree totaly that we are the elite and UF can't compare. I still can understand if BD stays (I WOULD NOT LIKE IT IF HE DID) and I hope he comes to us. Personaly I think that UK does not need CREAN or BREY, both would be a disaster for this program. Right now we are Billy or Bust....

Anyone other than Donovan is going to be disappointment; I would take Gillespie or Few if we have to; but I pray that Billy D. will be wearing Kentucky Blue any day now!!! However, I am beginning to think we are going to get eaten, again, by a gator:(
