Okay. I'd say about half the people on this board believe "Billy Donovan isn't walking through that door." Correct?
Let's look at it this way: If Billy Donovan is not in serious negotiations with us, if it's not a done deal, then why haven't we hired anyone yet? There's no doubt in my mind that Mitch has interviewed several people. He's had to. If that's the case, either no one wants to come here, which is not true,or Donovan is our guy.
Do you think that if Mitch wasn't 100% sure that Donovan was coming, that he'd let Gillespie get away, or he'd let Calipari get away? I just don't believe Mitch is stupid enough to put all of his eggs intoone basket with a slim chance when our back up plan is....I hate to even say this...Tom Crean.
If you really think about it, all signs are pointing to Donovan.
Of course, if I am wrong, we're screwed.

If it is a done deal, then whyoh why doesn't any of the MSM think it is going to happen? They all can't be lumped into UK hater category.

I am a UK Fan but I think that is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen a school do. The only reason that game ever got any national coverage was due to the fact it was the first game of the season and the biggest thing going that weekend. I think it makes it looks like we are ducking them. Also, I said the same thing about UL when they scheduled that cupcake team a week before the UK game a few years ago, both actions are weak. It may actually back fire this year, it will give the new coach a couple of games to adjust with before they come here to play, so what may have been a big win over UL may turn into a whole new game. I think it should be the first game of the season, every season.

I liked it the first game, but this whole idea that it won't get national coverage now is dumb. There are just as many good games the first week as in week 3. There is a good chance both teams will be ranked this year. There is no way this game isn't on TV.

I agree that if both teams are ranked it will get national coverage, but when UK and/or UL is not ranked it will not have as much appeal as a Sunday night game on the first real weekend of College Football. If the game is played on a Sat. the third week of the season it will get overlooked for bigger games, if it is played on Sunday the third week it may still get national converage, depending what else is going on. I could easily see this game being shown only in regional coverage if either program slips.
Either way, I think it made us look weak.

I don't know if he's talked to anyone, but you'd better belive that these contract extension's these guys are signing mean nothing at all. i.e. if Calipari is asked to interview he will and we and Memphis knows it...same for Gillespe or any number of the top tier coaches.
Unlike you or I and our contractural obligations in the world of NCAA basketball and pro basketball its a very fluid situation.

Interestingly, a good friend of mine who used to have close ties to the program said almost the same thing to me last week. He said if the coaching talk out of UK is quiet next week (this week) then the only possible explanation is a serious Donovan lean.
I'm hoping this is correct. Donovan is probably the only choice that will totally unite the Wildcat Nation (at least for a while;))
