Here is an email I just got from a UK coworker. In addition to the one I posted below, he sent another saying that a station in Tallahassee has reported Rick Barnes being in G'ville since Monday and made the comment "you connect the dots". LOL

-----------------------------------------------

First and foremost,I want to point out that what I am presenting,is nothing more than strong rumor as well, but if you look at all of my points,I think we can all feel very, very comfortable, that Billy D. will be our next coach. While I cannot mention the name of my source,my wife spoke to a former UK Basketball manager, who was one of the Kentucky Basketball team managers, when Richard Pitino JR. was still at UK. This young man, still has contacts within the program and told my wife today, on 3/27/07, that it was absolutely a 100% done deal with Donovan coming to Kentucky. It would be announced as soon as Florida was knocked out of the Tournament and time allowed to get Donovan to Kentucky,to make the announcememt.
The other particulars, that have appeared in some form or another on this message board, make the scenario, which will also develop, almost "Camelot Like",should they fall into place, as well.

1. In addition to Donovan being named the head coach,John Pelphrey will be named "Associate Head Coach in Waiting". The idea is, that as the assistant head coach,John will make as much money in salary and endorsements and speaking engaagements,as he could at South Alabama and yet be in a much higher profile position, than down in no mans land in South Alabama. Should Billy decide to leave somewhere down the road, than a good old Kentucky Boy,who understands the dynamics, tradition and what pressures to expect, will be groomed and ready to step in and take over.

If Billy decides to stay a while, then within 3-5 years,or whenever Kentuky is really rolling,Pelphrey would get a lot of the credit and a big time program, from one of the major conferences, could hire Pelphrey, until the UK job opens up and then Pelphrey could come back to UK,then.

2. Did anyone else not think it was strange, that suddenly John Pelphrey, took his name out of the running for the South Florida coaching job,as that surely would have been a step up from South Alabama,as it was a big East coaching job. Rumor had it as well, that he probably was at the top of the list, which made me scratch my head,at the time,as to why he would have done this. Point number one explains why Pelphrey, chose to do that.

3. The former Bball manager, who also became good friends with Richard Pitino Junior, said that he knew someone who was a very, very good source and my guess is that person,is Richard Pitino Junior, which leads me to my next point of speculation.

4. First of all,has anyone else noticed, just how gracious Rick Pitino has been of his praise of the UK basketball Program,in the last couple of days. He has been calling us the Roman Empire of College Basketball,a camelot situation, when he was their, and also what a great program and a great opportunity this would be for the next coach. I know he has made these comments in the past, but not lately and that leads me to my final point.

5. My guess, that as a favor to Rick Pitino ,that Billy D is going to bring in Ricks son,Richard Pitino Jr,as one of the assitant coaches,as he is now an assistant coach at Duquense. It would be my guess, that one of the reasons that Stephon Pettigrew,is getting the interest from Duquense,is because of the Pitino connection to Kentucky high school basketball, but that is another story.

So you see, there is a motive to Traitor Rick,s niceties and that is self serving for Rick to get his son on, as a caoch at Kentucky. Lets face it, what father would not want to be close to his son, plus an assistant coaching Gig at UK,would open a lot more doors, quicker than Duquense.

Well, there you have it. This would truly be a match made in heaven. Can you imagine having Pelphrey as a front man,to get the recruits interest, with his passion and love for the kentucky BBall program, only to have Billy D. come in as the closer. Also, having the Pitino name in the mix. It just couldn,t get any better than this. Any and all thoughts and comments would be appreciated. Perhaps, if any of our posters have any contacts with richard Pitino Jr.,maybe he could shed some light on this very important topic.

not buying it......i know we are uk. but, imo there is no way we can pay BD what were going to AND pay john pelphrey a load of money. this just isn't feasible. nevermind the fact that pelphrey is on the fast track to stardom. i doubt very seriously he wants to leave a head coaching job to play second fiddle to BD again. it simply doesn't make since. i'll be the first to eat my crow if it's true. but color me skeptical.

Plus, I checked out Tallahassee sites and found no link regarding Rick Barnes. I want it to be true and believe you...

John Pelphrey is waiting for a HC job that is a higher profile than South Florida even if it is in the Big East. I do not see him stepping in an assistant's position after having the success he has hadat USA the past two years.

I just hope all these "positive" rumors do not set us all up for a catastrophic meltdown should none of this come to pass.
