I wondered if Vandy would keep this guy very long.

I wonder how much money they'll offer....Michigan has been known not to open up the pocket-book for basketball.

Smart move. I think Stallings would thrive there. That state generates some good ball players. I think Stallings would be able to find players who could thrive in his style.

Stallings is an outstanding coach and showed Tubby a thing or two the last two years,Sure would be interesting to see how they would fair against each other in the Big 10.

Sux for Vandy. Everytime they seem to get good, it all comes crashing down.

I have always liked Stallings. When he punked out Noah this year it was icing on the cake.

Yep...and it drives them crazy around here. He's an approachable guy who does a good bit in the community and is a great interview when he's on a local sportstalk show I listen to.

On the other hand, most Vandy fans areobnoxious, so I don't really care :ggrin:

Any thoughts on what Vandy might try to do to keep him? He seems to have things going the right direction there. I know I saw on another thread it discussed Kentucky and only one other school in the SEC as being mainly basketball schools, and that other school was not Vandy, I thought that was odd. Vandy seems to get almost zero respect outside of the SEC.

Since Vandy doesn't officially have an "athletics department," it's kind of against their official line to pony up the big boy bucks to keep Stallings.

Stallings would be wise to go now if he has an opportunity. His talent pool is going to be unloaded in a major way this year, and long term prospects of recruiting to Vandy, not good I think.

I agree completely. This is why you take the Vandy challenge- to succeed and move up to a better opportunity. The 'Dores are not serious about bigtime athletics in the grand scheme of things. Take the Michigan job, Stallings. You'll do well there.

I agree and I think Stallings is an underrated coach and Vanderbilt clearly is not a big athletic school, its clearly academics. However, wouldn't a guy like Stallings want to go somehwere where they actually care about basketball and its not completely overshadowed by a football team like Michigan and a stadium like "The Big House"?

I agree it is an upgrade, but I think there are better upgrades as well.

I love to watch Stallings coach. He's got a passion for the game that many coaches are lacking.

I know he led his team to victory over us a time or two.:nada:I never like to see Kentucky lose, but boy those were some great games. I hate to see him leave.

Agreed. That was reason enough to like the guy.

I actually hope he stays with Vanderbilt. I think he is a good coach. Would hate to see him go on to Michigan but they have to find someone somewhere.

Does he consider it a distraction since WVU is in the NIT Final?

Let me guess, he doesn't think he will leave since he already has a great situation. Katz apparently doesn't think any coach will leave. Did I mention that I really dislike Andy Katz. Smug *****.

I don't like him that much.
