I want to post this on this forum because it's still where most of the activity is right now.

I'll be getting up very early tomorrow morning (Friday) and driving to eastern Kentucky to bury my maternal grandmother. She passed away Monday evening at the age of 91. She had numerous health problems and spent the last few years of her life in a nursing home not far from her home. By God's grace, I was able to take my mother to see her last Saturday, not knowing, of course, it would be the last time we would see her alive. She had had several strokes which affected her speech to the point that she really wasn't able to communicate very well, but she was able to let us know she recognized me and my mother.

I'll miss her terribly and life is not going to be quite the same again, but I'm grateful that she passed on to my family a strong faith in God and many of the traditional values I hold dear. I'll never forget her. Eastern Kentucky (Menifee County) was her lifelong home and I don't think she ever left the county or the state more than seven or eight times in her life.

I would appreciate everyone's prayers for my family and I as we go through this period of adjustment. I held off saying anything about this until now. I was using the good conversation and the anticipation of our new coach to take my mind off things.

The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. So tonight when you hit your knees or whenever you take time to pray, say a word for us. I consider you all friends and I feel comfortable sharing this with you.

Thanks in advance

Rick (BigBlue75)

Rick, both of my maternal grandparents are buried in LaGrange, down behind the old Key Market and lumber company.

Your grandmother will have good company. I'm praying for them all, and you and your family too.

Rick may the Lord comfort you and your family in your time of loss. I am so sorry. I've lost both of my grandparents on both sides, so I know how it is. Grandmothers are so very special to us, and when we lose one, we feel like we have lost one of our own parents.

I am sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you. I was very close to my grandmother and know how much you will miss her. My father in law is on his death bed. I don't expect him to make it thru the weekend. So it will be easy to remember you and your family as I deal with mine. I'll be thinking of you and Debby at 11.
