Have a source at local TV station - just found out that Morris has decided to stay at UK. Will be announced at 5.
GOOD source, so rejoice!!:D

I think I'll wait until 5:01 pm to start rejoicing. Not to be negative, but I've seen so many post on so many forums that report things from "unnamed sources" that I take it all with a grain of salt. By the way, where is your local station, you don't have a location in your profile? Just curious. Are you from Lexington?
kysteel
06-21-2005, 10:57 AM
Understood. Check out 27 at noon. They may break it then.
Sorry - you're not in Lexington. I'll watch and report.

I understand the hesitation. Yes, I'm in Lexington, and the source is a family member who works at Channel 27. He said they have talked to Morris' father and got the confirmation from him, but are not allowed to announce until the 5 p.m. newscast.
Again, I realize I'm new to the board and you have no reason to believe me. I'll be happy to wait until 5 for high-fives:cool:.

The fact that KySteel has posted two follow up messages and acknowledges that it may be hard for us to believe him makes him seem a little more credible. Often you get fly-by posters who think it would be a good joke to do something like this, and they just make one post and never come back. But still, I'll just have to wait and see.

A respected poster on another board has a contact at a Atlanta news station and says the same.. he will be coming back.
P.S. I am hearing that he plans to announce at 2PM so we should see news spread like wildfire thru the UK boards.

27 just teased the decision by saying Morris was now "more receptive" to staying. They obviously can't reveal for sure until 5.

Thanks for the info. There is no doubt there is a 5 PM announcement, my gut is that he's coming back based upon other indications, but honestly at this point we're all better off just waiting to see. Whether he goes or stays, KY is going to be fine.

I agree, Kap. I think Woo will be MUCH better next season.
Morris has some bridges to re-build if he is indeed coming back - most notably with Tubby. Tubby was NOT happy that Morris never talked to him about possibly going, so...

If Morris and Kaz stayed we were looking good for a Final 4 run. With the loss of Hayes and Kaz we have lost a consistent rebounder and a somewhat consistent scorer.
We may get to #8, but at least 2 players will need to step up BIG time. I think Morris is one, but I am not sure who the other will need to be. Crawford? Sheray?Perry? We need a solid performance out of the 3 and 4.

I agree. Morris has to REALLY improve to make any sort of a championship impact. And for him it starts with the mental part of the game, as we all know...
I think his return, if that's the decision, HELPS. But in no way am I going to start a celebration.

I think Morris must stay on the floor... get fire in his eyes and hurt peoples feelings with his post moves... Sims and Sheray rebound and pass in the interior.... Crawford, be who he is.... get good bench help (no worries there), Rondo, Bradley,Sparks... shoot the lights out....then we hang # 8.

I think if Morriss returns, he has got to know that leading this team deep into the tourney and perhaps winning the NC will land him very high on the draft list next year. That alone to me is a huge motivational factor. I just hope that allure of riches in the NBA is not his 'true' motivation but the competitor within.. so far I haven't seen that from him.

Well, no new info from me, but thought I'd check in (since I started the thread).
After the 6-11 kid from Notre Dame decided to go back to school earlier today, I have to believe Morris knows he won't get a guaranteed contract this season. Coming back would earn him millions more in the long run.
We'll know for sure at 5, but I still stand by my source.

A fax or letter must be recieved by NBA front office by 5 PM to withdraw.... so Morris certainly has made his decision by now. Just a matter of having it announced.
