This is actually the second class to be inducted into the new College Basketball Hall of Fame.

It's a shame Rupp wasn't a part of the inaugural class.

I agree, the fact that Rupp, Iba, and Phog Allen didnt get in the inaugural class means this is a bunch of crap hall of fame...Those 3 with Naismith frickn INVENTED COLLEGE BASKETBALL and basketball in general....Wooden getting in before those 3is a bunch of crap, yeah I know Wooden won a bunch in a row, but Allen Rupp and IBA.....They all won before Wooden started coaching....

how many NITs didwe win before there was a Ntl championship game...this is the hall of sham...yeah sham, not shame...shame on the voters..LOL:shrug:

Kareem Abdul Jabbar never played college basketball. There's not a single scorers book that has that name in it, so he can't be inducted. ;):?

Dean Smith in the Inaugural class, What a Joke. His biggest contribution(s) to the game is the four corner offense that almost destroyed college b-ball and as a result the shot clock.

To call the four corners offense is an insult to the word offense :D

I know what you mean, though, and, while I agree that he should not have gone into the HOF ahead of others...RUPP!...it's hard to argue with 879 wins and 2 championships. Smith's influence on the game is inarguable. Consider the "family tree" that he planted:

Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, Phil Ford, Jerry Stackhouse, Roy Williams, Larry Brown, George Karl, James Worthy, Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith, Antawn Jamison, and Rasheed Wallace...

...just to name a few.

I agree thatSmith should be in there, but not in front of the line, especially when the INVENTOR of the game, Rupp and Phog Allen are left standing in the rain. If the first class included Naismith, Rupp, IBA, Allen, that would make sense, also throw Wooden and Dean Smith in that class as well, but Smith should have had a lot more NC with some of hte classes he had. Now that Bobby Knight has passed Smith and has 3 NC he shouldbr in, and as bad as I hate to admit it, Coach K.should soon follow. I think you have to be retired before you can be admitted though.
