Money was never discussed by either Mitch or Billy, Billy was asked "if he's interested" and Billy quickly said no. No mention of money was put out publicly and that was a very smart move by Mitch. Why offer the money publicly and then have to "over-pay" the next guy?

Sure, if Billy would have wanted 4 Million, he may have gotten it, but we'll never know that now. Gillispie may get 2.5 Million but it may have cost us 3 Million and over 7 years, that's another 3.5 million saved.

Smart move not putting the money "officially" out there.

I agree with this. I don't know what anyone makes right now, but I think that if we go after Gillispie, because he hasn't been around all that long (only five seasons), I expect him to get $2 million if he were to come. I don't care what we pay him as long as its reasonable and of course, as long as he shows up.

Gillispies new "verbally agreed-to" deal is worth 1.7 Mil per season, with incentives. UK could easily fork over 2.5 Million and add incentives- he would be nuts not to take it. I stll believe this is why he scoffed at Arkansas and hasn't put the pen to paper at A&M.
