I posted the same opinion weeks back when all of this broke. John Lucas was not only a great pro player, he has been a NBA Coach AND GM. If anyone is well prepared to run a program with the statureof UK,Lucas' isqualified. He currently runs a business assistingNBA prospects with making the transition to the league. The only catch with Lucas is that I do not know if he has the burning desire to prove himself at the college ranks. By that I do not know if he wants to sit in a 17 year old kids living room on a Tuesday night inPigs Knuckle, Arkansas. He joked when asked about the possibility that he would have us in trouble with the NCAA in a matter of weeks due to the stringent guidelines regarding the protocol of recruiting. HOWEVER, I do know that John is good friends with Dwayne Casey who would love to return to his alma matter and has a considerable resume himself. Maybe a joint venture (UK seems to love the "Associate Head Coach" title) between the two would send shock waves through college basketball. Two guys with about 30 years of combined NBA experience would make one hell of a recruiting pitch.

John Lucas is a little to old to be our next Coach we are looking for a young guy to re-energize and give some life back to our program. Im sure he would do fine but how long do you really think you could keep up with the schedule and work it takes to be the UK coach.

Dude, Lucas is like 54 years old. He is not a spring chicken, but he is not quiet over the hill yet either. He is ten years older than Michael Jordan for a frame of reference.

If he was interested in Coaching, or if he was considered to be a good coach I think he would be Coaching somewhere right now JMO:beer:

On one of the Louisville sports talk shows they were mentioning that UK should go after another former Pitino asst., Reggie Theus. They were pointing out how he's turned NM ST around, and how well he can recruit.

He's been there two years and has totally turned the program around and has proven that he can bring in a 5star recruit to the middle of no where (Las Cruces, NM)

Reggie Theus proves he's a pretty good coach
