I had a conversation with Billy Donovan today to gauge any interest he might have in the head coaching position at Kentucky. Billy informed me that he intends to stay in Gainesville.

Where was theSearch Committee the last two weeks? Parkerdoesn't work for free.

An excellent question, and one that will probably NEVER be answered.

It's beginning to look like my conspiracy theory may be correct. i seriously think parker was contacted by mitch to get rid of tubby cleanly. in turn he promised them a large amount of $ during the uk "search"

Matt although I am not one to bite on such theories it would appear you may be on to something.

If I recall a employee of the search firm told KY fans to be patient and that this thing would be over by Friday. I personally believe that everyone thought they had Billy...I'd love to know what Foley promised him this morning.

Could be that Mitch hired the search committee because he had feelers early on that Donovan might turn the job down. The search committee could, after all, be legit: it might be "searching" through the remaining candidates as we speak.

Well, I guess what I am getting at is why hire a search committee if Mitch makes the first call and is turned down without even being given the opportunity to talk to the guy.

Wouldn't-shouldn't the search committee have had some idea that apparently BD had no interest in the position and that would have been relayed to Mitch?

I just see this as a huge "black eye" for Parker. The first and without a doubt the primary target (applicant) doesn't even agree to discuss the position.

Note: Will posted abovebefore your resposne, Search Commitee for Plan B does make sense but I am still somewhat skeptical.

Rick..one possibility that a HR person told me about was that the firm might do the background checks to be sure there isn't any sort of history that could embarass KY and they could also check the official resume for accuracy.
