Let's do something different instead of talk about possible coaches. This board has really grown in the last month; it's time we got to know each other a little bit better.

How old are you and what do you do for a living?

My name's Will. I'm 30 and I'm a soon-to-be full-time writer.

I'm 20 years old. I presently am not in school, but that's because I have no idea what I want to do. I'm only one year removed from High School.I attended Raymond Walters College, a branch off of University of Cincinnati (yuck.), majoring in Education, but I quickly decided that wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. I actually want to get into journalism, and become a sports journalist. (Will, maybe you can help me out with this?)

I had a serious girlfriend, and was ready and willing to marry her, but she had some issues that she refused to take care of, so I forced myself to move on because I couldn't handle it anymore. I'm still very much in love with her, but I'm single. Any cute and single WCN ladies out there? :ggrin:

Mostly non-fiction and ad-copy. Writing an automotivebook now for Penguin/HP. Contributed on a recent Dummies title for Wiley. My love is essay and creative, but right now non-fiction is paying the bills. :)

You mentioned going full-time as a writer; details? :)

edit: I wrote the "Casual Observer" article on the homepage that was posted recently. The only sports piece I've written, but I had to vent. I was/am starting to take some of these attacks on UK fans personally.

Non-fiction pays the bills much more than creative work, usually. At least that's what I've heard.

I have a novel coming in 2008 from Shaye Areheart/Crown. Working with my editor right now to try and fix the ending. Tough work.

I was the editor of the campus newspaper when I was at Georgetown. When my law school chances weren't looking good, I asked our faculty adviser about getting into sportswriting. She told me basically what Will just said: Despite some experience and winning some awards for sportswriting, I'd have to go to a really obscure small-town paper in Appalachia for a few years to build up experience, because even papers in towns as small as Glasgow (my hometown) typically require a journalism degree.

But as for my introduction, I'm 25, single, and have nokids. Ido have a cat named Happy (yes, I named my cat after Happy Osborne). I'm originally from Glasgow, graduated from Barren County in 2000 and Georgetown College in '04. I'm about a month away from graduating law school at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law (well, U of L, but I'd rather not admit to being a U of L student . . . ). I have no idea what I'm going to do after I graduate. If any of the other posters in the legal field know of any prosecutor jobs opening up, let me know where to send a resume :)

As for my basketball experience, I led the state of Kentucky in 3-point FG percentage while playing for Barren County's 7th grade team in the 1994-95 season. I was 1-1, and if it weren't for my heroics, we would have only won that game by 24, not 27.

Besides my engineering career, I've taught for many years at Columbus State Community College, but now tutor (math). My inability to hear well, although aided by hearing aids, makes it too difficult to teach in a classroom.

My name is Bev and I'm 53 years old. I'm currently on disability from Jefferson County schools. I was a speech pathologist for 20 years but developed a voice disorder from a weird digestive disorder that I have-- you can't be a speech clinician with a voice problem that's for sure! I graduated from UK in 1975 and have 2 daughters who just recently graduated from UK as well. I was born with blue blood and my girls first words were "Go Big Blue". Unfortunately, I had to get my Master's from UL and developed a hatred for the school. So I'm a fan of UK first and anyone who plays UL second! Go Cats!!

HI I am Andy, age 48,and nicknamed after Andy Griffith. Grew up during the great years of television hence the name Gunsmoke. Two boys Matt and Dillon named of course after Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke. Rode a great buckskin horse that would rack a hole in the ground and never spilled my beer he was so smooth and came from the great Blueblood area of eastern Kentucky, a mountain horse no less. The love of buckskin horses again came from Gunsmoke. My mother, may she rest in peace, was born and raised in Amsterdam, Holland so I am half dutch and where I believe I get my conflicting temperament. Some say it is just plain Bipolar but it surely runs deeper than that. Played baseballin the final 8 of the state tournament in 1975 for Grayson County High when it was played at Morehead. Played four years of baseball at Campbellsville when it was still a college and graduated in 1980. My mother chased down all of my homerun balls in high school and college and I still have them. Talk about great memories. She was one of a kind and my biggest fan. OBTW, little old CC beat uL at Parkway Field, I believe it was, and I had the pleasure of jackin' one against them. Grew up listening to Cawood and I owe this to mydad. Have worked going on 19 years with the state and train people to be foster and adoptive parents for the great state of Kentucky. I have a hot young wife with a heart of gold who obviously is not as smart as she looks or she wouldn't have married this old burnout. She got her masters from uL a few years ago and works for the state too.I bleed Royal Kentucky Blue and all other colors pale by comparison. I am an old highly skilled Louisville basher from the heyday of WCF. I was only placed on involuntary leave there three times I believe when my work became too pointed. I have mellowed in my old sober ways. UK is a way of life not a pastime to be taken lightly.

Been through that 10-week course. With a new medicine cabinet lock in hand and a letter to a child, me & the misses just might make it.

Steve 38 father of 3 kids, former Police Officer, (couldn't take theBRASS anymore)now electrical apprentice. I also have a Landscaping business and will be incorporating both together in the future. I am unfortunately married to a VOLS fan also. But I've managed to teach, at least my son to be a CATS fan. Wouldn't mind moving to Ky. in the near future. My wife is great, even though she's a big orange fan.
