FYI, I put together two web pages. The first provides a list of former UK players who served in the US Armed Forces in some capacity, not necessarily participating in a war. I'm sure that this list is nowhere near complete, especially for WWI and WWII veterans. Any assistance is appreciated.

The second page lists the six former basketball players I'm aware of who died in combat.

It gives a short description of their military career and the circumstances of their death. There's some pretty interesting stories there I'm sure.

Out of that list of several dozen, only two UK players since 1958 have served in uniform.

Times change, I guess.

Well, you've got to acknowledge that the large majority of them served due to World War I and World War II. Otherwise, it would be a fairly short list.

That, and there was a draft until the 1970s.

Times change.
