This article in The Tennessean is one of the worse hatchet jobs by a reporter that I have ever seen.........The quotes he uses are peoples reaction to NOT getting Donovan. They were taken BEFORE we hired Gillispie. Biddle's e-mail addy is on the upper right hand side of his column......Feel free to show him how we REALLY feel about our new coach.

Living in Nashville, I read Biddle every day, although sometimes I'm not sure why. He also does some radio work on the ESPN affiliate and a small, local sports station.

The guy's never had an original thought in his life,he's typically days...if not weeks...behind in his opinions, and is an ***. If he weren't such an idiot I'd be upset.

As someone who gets the Tennessean and lives just outside Nashville, I can tell you that this particular moron rarely even gets anything right pertaining to the UT Vols or the Vandy Commodores. He's alienated so many people around here that I can't believe he's still even got a job in any sports field, let alone as a 'sports writer' or commentator. Most times he completely clueless and is an absolute horse's rear end to boot.

Being from middle TN also, I can VERIFY everything KYWoman says. He's a complete idiot most of the time even though he somehow does have a big name in the sports field in this area.

How does a moron of this caliber keep his job? I mean, do they actually pay this idiot to write garbage like that? And it's not just the jabs he took at Billy Clyde, it's his writing style in general. The title of that article should read "Random thoughts from the village jackass".

Great post. I too have often wondered how such donkey's butts like this guy and Vitale keep a job. If I performed that badly at my job,I'd be EDIT canned.

The lead is idiotic.

Bring up the DUI. Fine. Sportswriters far better and more clever than Biddle have mentioned it.

But he attempts to tie the DUI to Gillispie's coaching ability -- as if all Gillispie brings with him to Lexington is his court record -- and that's just stupid.

Joe Biddle was on assignment all week covering the Master's in Augusta, Georgia. All information gathered for thisarticle was obtained from his negative pals that work for the Courier Journal and Lexington Herald Leader. He makes statements that he thinks are cute and funny, but they usually draw the ire of all fanbases in the area ( Tennesee, Kentucky, Vandy, and Bama). David Climer would be the most negative columnist working for this paper. Joe also does a sports radio show WNSR 560 AM 3 till 6 pm Monday thru Friday. Also living in Nashville, I find myself sometimes listening to the guy, and I concur with the rest of the Tennesseans throughout this thread-- the guys is stupid. Every week I find myself at the point of calling in and chewing the guy out, but he is not worth it. Every caller that sees things differently from him is made to looks stupid as he hides behind his "caller mute button". He often never lets someone finish a statement, and his demeanor toward everything in general is moronic.

This looks like a ripoff of Pat Forde's article the day after BD turned us down. I mean come on. Get some new material you, talk about being an unoriginal bastard.

This reminds me of my experience when I went down to ole rocky top for the UK/UT this past season.

Being the fan that I am, everytime UK scored, I proceeded to yell at the top of my lungs. I didn't yell anything profane or inappropriate, just being a fan.

That didn't go over to well for the people sitting around me. Last time I checked, I was at a basketball game and was there to cheer on my team.

Everytime Lofton scored 2 guys proceeded to turn around stare at me like they wanted to fight me. Telling me to "sit down and shut up" and the occasional "what now?"

Last time I checked, the game was being played in front of them, not behind. :shrug:

Needless to say I wasn't very pleased with my first experience in ol' rocky top, but you better believe I'll be back there next yr giving them hell again!

I know every fan base has some morons but gee whiz. I drove 3 hrs to come watch the cats play, you better believe I'm gonna be as loud and supportive as I can.

I would hope our fans would show respect to opposing fans whenever they come to our house. Cause I know how bloody mad I was at those fans that felt the need to stare at me like they wanted to fight.

You think Vols fans are bad? Try sitting on at either half court when UK plays Vandy in basketball or near the 50-yard line when UK plays them in football -- dressed in blue and white from head to top and screaming and cheering at the top of your lungs while the Cats demolish them in both venues.......getting out of the stadium after the game is like taking your life in your hands...even when flanked by two rather large fellas - both over 6'4" and saying, "you could AT LEAST take off the hat!!"....:lol: There is NO love lost here in Big Orange or Black and Gold country for us die-hard Cats fans and Joe Biddle is just the epitome' of their bad manners and inhospitable attitudes IMHO.

The problem that I have is that most media members call Barnes our number two man. Who verified that? Mitch never said that he was our number two man. I can tell you for a fact that he was not the fans' number two choice overall.

Well I doubt that... If he would have done that, then he would have gotten the story right. If he would only listen to us! ;)I was all over this board and TCP, there were varying choices for "plan B" from what I saw. I don't think there was ever a clear cut choice for the second choice.

But I agree with your first statement, how DID the media KNOW Barnes was #2? I call shennanigans! They only hear what they wanna hear and believe what they wanna believe

Maybe some of the UT fans enjoyed this piece but from the great fans I know at UT, probably not many appreciate this article.

I'm a Kentucky fan but I'm also an SEC fan. As a professor at UGA, I love rooting for all SEC teams (unless they are playing UK). I can't imagine writing up less than half truths about another SEC program.

We UK fans are delighted with Billy G! Get your story straight.

I doubt he will read though.:X

The fact that Barnes withdrew his name before the job was filled is what they're going by. If that's the case then Pitino was our first choice. (I know that's untrue - just making a point).

I suspect upon realization that he was not a real candidate or even that he was alerted the job was filled that Barnes withdrew his name to give the illusion that he had been offered.

This is an e-mail I sent to Joe Biddle: When did UK offer the job to Barnes of Texas?Why try to tarnish his reputation do you have an ax to grind with UK or Coach Gillispie? This is the reply I received this morning word for word:

Paul Barnes backed out of the job after Mitch botched it. I never wrote that he was convicted. I said charged with two DUIs, which he was. One was dismissed the other was reduced to reckless driving. I have no ax to grind with UK or Gillispie. I think he was a solid choice, although with the trouble UK has had with alcohol related problems i. e Eddie Sutton, Jules camara, Desmond Allision, the football player who drank all night after beating mighty Vandy and then went hunting and killed him and his buddy, the football players that frequented the dive-off campus and one of them got run over by a traintrying to walk back to campus. I think they are taking a chance with this guy as he has never taken a team past the Sweet 16 and that won't cut it at UK and you know that.

Gee....Biddle's as illiterate and incoherent as he is clueless.....Hard to believe this guy is considered by some to be a true sports guru......My third grader writes better than this and generally has his facts straighter to boot :shock:!
