When I'm not travelling, I work from a home office.
I was sitting at my desk, and happened to notice a moving truck pullingon tomy street.
The entire side and back of the truck was UofL! It wasn't a "UofL truck". Just your basic Ryder rental, I guess.
But it had the Cardinal logo, and Adidas logo, and a listing of the bowl games in whichUofL has participated on the side, and some more UofL propaganda(;)) on the back.
Has anyone else seen this truck, or is Bobby Petrino moving into my apartment complex?
For people in Lexington or other places, have you seen similar trucks with UK stuff on them?

That is what you can spend your extra Big East money on when you aren't trying to buy AM radio for millions of dollars. It is called advertising. They teach that concept at Business Schools.

I saw a Peanut truck today and it was full of Goobers that believe uavel is competitive in the Big East. I can't stop laughing at that.
One of my favotites,
When ever I'm travelling through northern KY, I always see a big white dump truck, with
"I'll Haul For UK Tickets"
Written on the back gate.

No, what you do with extra Big East money is have your ADADMIT that it wasn't enough to out-do UK, so you lose the priority rightscontract with a 50,000 watt radio station in your home city, so then you go out and BUY a freakin' AM radio station (which has nowhere NEAR the coverage)for afew hundred thou.,and call it Cardinal radio, and then try to act like losing priority rights on the big station was nothing to worry about, that this will be much, much better, and then have the spin doctors get to work and try to poo-poo the deal that they lost and act like they never really wanted it in the first place...and all the while maintaining that UK has no real presence in Jefferson County. Yeah, right..
The class at the business school where they teach that is Cardinal Economics 101.:D

Tom Leach is a quality broadcaster and you know it and there was no point in going there. It's not our fault that we can listen to UK games anywhere in the country with our radio and satellite deal and you all can't..
And you don't even want to get a debate started about radio broadcasters when you guys had Jock Sutherland, who literally won the "Worst Broadcaster" award for year and bragged about it.(And no, I'm not making that upjust to get a dig in)Sutherland's entire game commentary could be summed in one sentence: "Louisville is great, the other team stinks"One good thing about Pitino coming to Louisville is that one of the first things that happened was JS was not retained on the broadcast team.
When things are going so bad for U of L basketball that you guys have to start throwing slaps at the UK broadcasting team to try and get even, that's getting pretty bad.
Please note, at no time in this post did I say anything derogatoryabout Paul Rogers and Bob Valvano. I hadn't planned on it before reading this post and I'm not going to do so now. I have no reason to do so and I'm not going to go there.

I loved Caywood, and there'll never, EVER be anyone come close to him. I did like Ralph Hacker, but I can't take Tom Leach.
His voice is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Do radios still have AM bands? get real i haven't listened to AM radio in ten years probably. The only people that do must be "up in the hills". Your brainmaster bought a pig in a poke and everybody realizes it.
Answer me a question though, Do you keep the refrigerator on the front porch because it has beer in it or is there no room in your kitchen?

Yeah, because Indiana is just full of metropolitan areas...come on. Anyone living in Indiana loses all right to talk hillbilly smack.

I guess that's why Pitino threatened WHAS if U of L didn't get the contract renewed on that "pig in a poke"..

Then what exactly did Tom Jurich do? Does this look familiar:
WNDE 1260 AM - Indianapolis, Ind.
WCKY 1530 AM - Cincinnati, Ohio
WMKJ 105.5 FM - Lexington, Ky.
WKEQ 910 AM - Somerset, Ky.
WFKY 1490 AM - Frankfort, Ky.
WLVK 105.5 FM - Elizabethtown, Ky.
WYMC 1430 AM - Mayfield, Ky.
WQXQ 101.9 FM - Owensboro, Ky.
WPAD 1560 AM - Paducah, Ky.
WLYE 94.1 FM - Bowling Green, Ky.
WXKZ 105.3 FM - Prestonsburg, Ky.
WKYH 600 AM - Paintsville, Ky.
It should, because those are the stations on the U of L radio network..notice the preponderance of AM stations? YOU'RE the one who needs to get real..Your AD just flat BLEW it in the negotiations for the new radio contract and the university didn't have enough money in the budget to out-do UK and all the spin doctoring in the world won't change it.
And stay away from the implication that U of L is "Big City USA" and UK is Hicksville...don't even go there! :X

I guess I'm in the minority here, I thought that UK made a mistake in spending all of that money for the WHAS contract. We're already on Sirius satellite radio, I think that it would've been better to promote that avenue and save the millions that are now lost. Heck, we could've spent half of that and bought satellite receivers and given them out in a marketing deal and still saved a ton of dough.
